Went here recently on the basis of holiday cottage recommendations and we were not disappointed. The place is tucked away above Tintern, not that easy to find without map or satnav, but is well worth the effort. The cooking may not be visually special, but the taste certainly is - a previous commentator has described with accuracy the vegetables! Added...

Fabulous Sunday lunch. Between us we had beef, turkey and lamb. All were superb. Vegetables cooked perfectly- not always the case at all pubs/restaurants. Service was attentive and timely. We will definitely return for lunch on our next visit.

Although tucked away in the countryside and not easy to find, it is well worth the effort. Friendly and relaxed service and lovely fresh local food. Also visited with friends 2 months ago and the experience was similarly good.

This is a traditional pub doing home cooked food in a very picturesque part of the Wye Valley. We often stop there for food after walking or fishing in the area. In winter you can sit near the fire and relax and in summer you can have your food out in the lovely little cottage garden. I would recommend the...

Stopped off during a walk in March with several of my hiking friends, we had a nice hearty meal and a great pint of beer, some choose a pint of cider. Staff and locals were very friendly and made it a very nice visit for myself and my friends. We will visit again.

The Fountain Inn was a welcome place after 3 hours walking in the area. 10 of us had food and everyone without exception said their meals were excellent. The beer was also very good with a varied selection available.

We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. Made to feel very welcome by the landlord. Really good beer and tasty, wholesome food. It's a good rustic pub with no pretentions. We'll be going back, for sure.

Had the good fortune of spending a few days at Tintern we thankfully stumbled across this charming pub. The menu was varied and centred on local produce, we chose a sharing platter of fish with salad and bread, tuna, prawns, salmon among others were all perfectly cooked, all puds were homemade and equally tasty, fantastic value, great service would love...

Have recently had the good fortune to spend two Sunday lunches here. The first time me and the OH were looking for somewhere to have lunch but didn't want a roast, (everywhere seems just to do roast on a Sunday theses days) the Fountain came up trumps. We sat in their lovely garden on a very hot afternoon and both...

We celebrated a 23rd wedding anniversary with friends and had a lovely afternoon tea. We can highly recommend the food, location and service. The yea was well stocked fresh sandwiches, cream scones and served with tea on the landlords mothers 30 year old china. We were asked to be careful with the china.
