This place was so peaceful, just very few people walking around, comparing to Chichen itza - as i heard was crowded of visitors, plus you are allowed to climb up the main pyramid and nearby theres a beautiful cenote where to swim at! To reach - you can take taxi, about 200 pesos or collectivo for 50 pesos. And there...

Mind you, this hotel is not for everyone: no pool, AC, wifi nor television. We were the only guests. The garden is very nice, and the caretaker, Hilda, prepares excellent meals for a very reasonable price. It is a tad run-down, and the shower could use more pressure, but the warmth of our hostess and her family, and the charm...

Hi, i'm Daniele, thans for your visit. I just discover the water pipe has big troubles because the hard water. I will install a small booster pump to help tha water flow. Lack of television, internet , even telephone was a clear decision of the owner. "this place is magic.... let the chance to discover it!" Finally, i must say...

We'd read about this restaurant and really wanted to try it. After visiting the Ek Balam ruins, we got a local taxi to take us into the village. We were the only guests at Dolcemente and were greeted by Daniele, the owner. The food was amazing, every bit as good as we'd been told. To find such incredible Italian pasta...

This place was deserted when we got there. I haven't a clue how they manage to stay open and maintain such lavish facilities and reasonable prices, but did not feel good about asking questions. This is especially considering that, in the middle of nowhere, the restaurant provided the most outstanding homemade Italian food I have had outside Italy, including New...

Nice, remote, quiet little property at the heart of Ek Balam Village -100 miles from Merida and 35 from Chichen Itza and about 2 miles fron the actual Ek Balam archaelogical site-. Food at the cafeteria is good considering the remotness of the place. Do not expect gourmet meals or desserts (don´t miss the home made tiramisú by Francesca though!)....

This is a lovely clean and comfortable hacienda run by a very friendly and accommodating woman named Francesca from Rome, Italy. Hence the name Dolcemente. Rooms are super spacious with no bugs in sight, a challenge in the village of Ek Balam as you are a bit in the jungle. Grounds are also well kept, lovely and picturesque. Food is...

I arrived at the hotel with a friend after some hard driving through pouring rain, and was unable to find the entrance. On the second pass by, some residents of the village waved us down and said that someone would open up in a minute. This she did, and we were able to drive into the courtyard. The hotel appears...

Place was locked up when we arrived. Locals living across the street were able to unlock for us. Odd architecture for the Yucatan. Room sizes were huge and was cool enough at night (mid-June) so no need for a/c. Caretaker was the cook and server as well. Restaurant had every table set but no guests staying. That was sort of...

We didn't stay there (so no view on the rooms) but nice place to gave a good lunch in a friendly and quite environment. Not easy to find but very close to the site, which we recommend to visit as it is much less touristic than other sites. Unfortunately the sculptures are not to be seen for the moment. So...
