We loved staying at Ek Balam for a few nights in the middle of our Yucatan adventure. It is impossible not to completely relax and let go there. This is the closest we came to being immersed in true Yucatan culture during our trip. Lee and Jennifer were wonderful hosts and organized an impromptu empanada cooking class for all 6...

This little walled in oasis in the small village of Ek Balaam is beautiful. The rooms/cottages were comfortable and nicely done, the spring fed pool was fabulous to dive in to. Breakfast, included in the price, was meager and not so great. Dinners, which were charged extra, were 4 courses and very good. The location is wonderful, close to the...

Beautiful tropical enclave creatively built from recycled and local materials by local workers. Lee, the owner, has a strong commitment to this small community and provides activities for guests to interact and learn about Mayan traditions. Genesis serves organic, local food, prepared by local people in its kitchen. It's only a few km from Ek Balam archeological site and cenote....

We stayed here just one night, and the room was beautiful and very comfortable. Lee (the owner) was always very kind, and she keeps her garden beautiful and tidy. I would love to come back. But keep this is mind: this is not a friendly place for backpackers or for travelers depending on public transportation. Buses don't come here, and...

So happy to have found this place. Like the previous reviewer, we had just spent 4 nights in Playa del Carmen and this was such a breath of fresh air. The village, ruins, cenote and area around Ek Balam itself has a magical feel to it and we're grateful to have had such a nice place like Genesis to stay...

We were surprised and delighted with our stay at Genesis. After attending a wedding at one of the all-inclusive Mayan Riviera resorts, we arrived later than expected to a warm greeting by Lee and her friendly dogs. We were soon offered a delicious dinner prepared by some of her polite and talented local employees and were soon chatting away with...

Staying here was a real experience and a million miles away from typical soulless mass tourism accommodation. You literally drive through a primitive Mayan village, asking directions of adorable Mayan children, to find it. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are quirky and really well done... it's like staying in a fantasy tree house. The nearby Ek Balam is...

Not sure where to begin! What a beautiful and wonderful experience at Genesis Eco Oasis. The grounds are magnificent and so well kept up. The little pathways lead you to a beautiful natural spring pool and various lodgings. Each room is unique and very clean. Some rooms have private showers and bathrooms and others are shared. Prices are extremely reasonable....

I booked a room for five nights at Genesis Eco-Oasis mainly because I wanted to meet Jim Conrad, the resident naturalist. He was there to greet me when I arrived, as Lee Christie, the owner, was off shopping in Mérida. The next day Jim and I walked about ten miles, to get his bicycle fixed and to see the ranch...

This is the type of hotel that will live long in the memory when big resort-style holidays will have faded. We spent 3 nights at Genesis at the beginning of our holiday, staying the first night in Bamboo, but then also moving into the Birdhouse room above for more space and the outdoor seating. Lee was fantastic in helping arrange...
