This place is very isolated and situated in an idyllic location in the country. Its close to wooded areas with good walks and picturesque views. Rooms are very comfortable, clean and very spacious, with lovely views the furnishings. The host cooks a 3 course meal every evening for those around which are are high quality and tasty with regional ingredients....

1st gear job up the hill with a fully laden car but what a place. We were greeted by Mikel on arrival and a more affable and jovial host you could not wish to meet. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable with great views across the valley. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent and Mikel took time to...

This was our second visit, so far, to this enchanting and special place. The house itself, a beautiful restored Basque farmhouse, is exquisite (we especially love the sitting room on the first floor) and so comfortable. Mikel will cook you a delicious meal, taking into account any dietary requirements if you let him know in advance, and he really is...

We booked via Sawdays but from there on in we communicated direct with Mikel. Google translate does a great job of helping with English to Basque! After decanting from the ferry at Santander we drove up the mountain and arrived at dusk and were welcomed by Mikel. He had prepared a meal of courgette soup, pork in a cream sauce...

If you've always wanted to stay in a pretty and rural Basque farmhouse built in the 1400s, Casa Ametzola is for you. Located up a narrow steep road, near an ancient church, lush farms, and incredible hiking/mountain biking trails, Casa Ametzola has been lovingly restored by it's wonderful owner Mikel, a friendly Basque man who can tell you about local...

It took us quite a while to locate this lovely old house which has been beautifully restored by the very genial host who catered for all our needs. Lovely, comfortable room and bathroom. We were greeted with the offer of wine, tea or coffee and settled down in the flower decked patio. So peaceful and restorative. Dinner was a bit...

Our stay last year with Mikel was shortened unexpectedly but we are returning this year! While we have had many wonderful hosts, I do not know of any who have been more helpful in terms of helping us plan our adventures. We love history, art, food and wine, and local culture. Mikel is a great guide to the Basque Country....

Nothing bad to say. Charming, homey, fabulous. Mikel and silent, fluffy Sinxo were great hosts during our stay on the mountain. Mikel is a fabulous cook - still thinking about the pork loin he prepared. The bed was supremely comfortable and the room spacious and warm. The shower was new and nice, a surprise in a centuries-old house, and a...

Food is great and dinner was absolutly worth booking. Showers are excellent and bed was very comfortable. I was sat this morning on the very wide wooden ledge in the bedroom looking...

Mikel is a great host. A source of information and enthusiasm for Bilboa, everything Basque and Spain. He is also an excellent chef. Our tom tom had a struggle with the cat's cradle that is the Bilboa road system but as you enter the quiet of the Zeberio Valley you know your life is improving. A steep 1 in 3...
