Went to the barge for Mother's Day and couldn't be happier. The food was brilliant and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The children were well catered for and we were sat by a lovely log fire, I would definitely recommend the barge.

Was surprised at the cost of food for a pub. After saying that the cottage pie on the special board was piping hot & very nice indeed although the accompanying vegetables were only slightly warm (a large amount it has to be said). Only 3 choices for dessert but we enjoyed the chocolate sponge & the bread & butter pudding(could...

Despite being fairly local, I hadn't previously visited the Barge Inn but was looking for a suitable venue for our ladies' occasional lunch get-togethers where we could have baked potatoes (we change the dish periodically but we're on spuds at the moment), not have to drive too far from our own village, and with easy parking. My partner and I...

Our room overlooked the canal and was well appointed with a very comfortable bed, tea, coffee and biscuits in the room and a very clean shower room. We at in the bar in the evening. The food was a cut above pub grub without being pretentiously 'gastro', and the servings were generous. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast in...

Stayed for a 2 night break in order to visit the Christmas market in Bath. Lovely place. Comfortable room - a little small but clean and very pleasant. Made to feel very welcome. Food was very good. Breakfast was one of the best we have ever had. We shall definitely return.

Stayed at the Barge Inn early this December for two nights over a weekend for a 50th bday celebration. Stayed in the Tithe room ( I think) lovely and very comfy. Loo roll holder on the shelf not on the wall was the only thing out of place. All the staff were very helpful and accommodating, there was an earlier...

I spent a couple of nights here, nice and close to town, the room rates were reasonable, and the breakfast was enormous, and delicious, lots to chose from. The only downside for me was the small room I stayed in, I was warned it was small, but there was nowhere to put you clothes, no draws, just the tiniest wardrobe....

My other half and I stayed at The Barge Inn for 3 nights, the room we had was at the front of the pub so did suffer from road noise. The room itself was really comfy, lovely bed, pillows and cotton sheets and duvet cover. Bathroom was big with good sized shower unit. Tea tray with biscuits and also bottled...

We've just enjoyed a night's stopover on our way back from Bristol. A lovely canalside setting right beside the Town Lock on the Kennet and Avon . A traditional setting but with an up to date well lit ambience which is clearly a hit with the locals. An imaginative menu with some good additional "specials" although we did struggle to...
