We stayed in The Peacock for 2 nights late November in the family room. This is one double bedroom and one 2xsingle bed room interconnected by the bathroom. Rooms were good, clean sheets and towels and all functioned well. As we booked direct with Breakfast was included and was excellent - good choice of cold juice and food, followed by... More

Visited on the weekend of the Christmas market. Cannot fault the Sunday lunch we had. The roast beef literally melted in your mouth and the Yorkshire puddings were delicious. Very well presented with lovely friendly staff. Comes highly recommended

Very friendly welcome. Shown to our room which was immaculate and warm. En-suite was modern and spotless. Dined in the pub restaurant which we thoroughly enjoyed. All in all a very happy stay and we will definitely return.

Lovely old place right in the centre of town with a small first come first served car park but free parking if you can get in - we stayed on the Christmas/farmers market w/end so paid more than we would usually pay - the rooms in the outbuildings are lacking in natural light & not laid out very well (try... You know sometimes you simply cannot win as in this case, as CORTINA1600E comes as is I feel his common want, and posts what is in all honesty a nice review of his time spent at the Peacock in Bakewell on what was an insanely busy weekend in Bakewell - especially in November, yes November folks, but still finds time,... After a dissappointing afternoon queuing for 45 minutes to park and then deciding not to pay the extortionate price to enter the mudbath of what appeared to be a washed out fairground (advertised as Bakewell Winter wonderland and traditional christmas market) had a wander around Bakewell itself. Enjoyed browsing in local shops and buying a few Christmas gifts. Discovered the... More

....and why wouldn't you jochg2016, so in return we thank you! The carnival or Winter Wonderland - nothing to do with the patrons or Market of Bakewell I hasten to add, was a total wash out, but in their defence the weather was appalling and it takes a strong reasoning to put the blame entirely on the organisers. That said,... More

We stayed at the Peacock for 2 nights and had a thoroughly lovely time. The food is amazing, we both choose from the specials board on the Friday night and the Saturday. The staff made our stay all the better, great chats and looked after us for the whole stay. I wanted to write this as so many people just... More

Bakewell is a honey pot for weekend visitors and therefore rooms come at a premium. However for £149 per night for a double room without breakfast is a little steep. They have decorated the rooms in what they think are tasteful Farrow and Ball colours. I personally love their paints and use them all the time however they just haven't... More

When you finish off your little ditty Classylady61 with a statement "I wouldn't recommend going to Bakewell' - then I feel we are basically on a hiding to nothing, because where is your class coming from (oh yes self opinionated), because Bakewell is a beautiful little tourist town that I can't even imagine how many people come to the Peak... We booked the Peacock for an overnight stay before a funeral. The room was comfortable and modern, in an annexe next to the main pub. There was a good shower, the room was well heated and the wifi was free. We had a good meal in the pub in the evening and the breakfast the next morning was superb -... More

I was on a half term break with my five year old son and was staying in Bakewell. Visited the Peacock with a view to booking a long weekend in a few weeks time. It is a beautiful place, the menu looked fantastic and the food smelt and looked delicious. Quite frankly Carol A I feel it it you that has an identity crisis and a slightly bitter attitude, because Guy the waiter was not rude in any shape or form.
