Would have been a 5 rating if the pub was not being redecorated, which is needed. However the food this lunchtime was superb value for money. They offer a 2 for £12 menu but my wife and I went for the specials board. I had a lamb shank dinner at an amazing £6.95 and Jeanette went for the roast chicken...

Stayed here last weekend for one night in the family room. All the staff were very friendly and the room was very clean, great value for money. Beer was good and the food was ok in the pub, great base for exploring the Peak District. One negative and that has nothing to do with the pub, the people staying in...

Stayed here after a late meeting in the County Council offices (a must see if you are in town - converted old Victorian Spa hotel - but plenty of original charm remains) The 'pub' is located towards the top of the hill - I walked - but quite a physical thing to do. And 'pub with rooms' is what it...

Choose this hotel on spec as being en route from Louth to Altrincham. Arrived late on a damp dreary evening and had a warm welcome from the staff. Dumped our things in the room and back to the bar where there was a lovely warm open wood fire. A couple of pleasant drinks, and to bed. Room was clean, bed...

We booked this hotel as they were advertised as dog friendly, we mentioned this on our booking and when checking in asked where the dog was allowed - pub/restaurant/room etc. We paid the £10 supplement for our lab and were given room 3. All good, the room was upstairs and fairly small but no problem at all for a one...

Excellent. Great venue. Fantastic accommodation. Restaurant food was awesome. Great service. Well impressed. Highly recommend this place. Would definitely come back. It's even dog friendly. Pets welcome for a small fee. Next time we will take our four legged family member. This place ticks all the boxes. Five stars every time.

We spent two nights here as a base for exploring the Peak District! We stayed in the four poster bed room! It's cosy..... but more than adequate for a short stay! The extractor fan in the bathroom at times sounded like Daffy Duck dying but after a few minutes it calmed down!! We ate in the pub both nights we...
