Detailed Reviews
Stayed for a week; the villas had plenty of room, each room was spacious with grand bathrooms; well equipped with linens, towels, kitchen items, even hot chocolate and tea. Every person working there was more than welcoming; we enjoyed returning each evening just to be greeted by those working the gated entrance- always a positive and enjoyable experience. Well located and an easy walk into town to see shops, restaurants and fun experiences. Would definitely stay again and recommend it to all. You will not be disappointed.

I picked a package deal in Ireland mostly because of the Adare Villas accommodations. We were planning a family trip with our three adult children, and so the separate rooms with there own bathrooms fit the bill.
When we got there we were blown away, it was way above expected. It was a large Villa with more than enough room. It had a very spacious living room and kitchen. The place was immaculate, extremely clean. The bedrooms were roomy with very comfortable beds. The grounds were beautiful in a gated area with extremely helpful gatemen.
I would highly recommend these Villas, best place to stay.

This was our second stay in Adare at the Adare Villas at Adare Manor! From your first entry at the gates you are treated like you are staying at the Manor - special treatment for all who stay on the grounds here! The Villas are just as nice as they were our first time in 2010! Finding the hair dryers is another thing! Lol They are there- in the top desk drawer in each bedroom! We looked in every other drawer! Great location to explore the west coast of Ireland ! Each day we drove 1-2 hours to Doolin, Killarney, Kinsale, Galway and also the Dingle Peninsula. What a trip! Each night we returned to the comfort of our 3 bedroom Villa on gorgeous grounds! Wish I could remember ALL the amazing staff members to thank! Phillip is the one who greeted us on Day 1 and even though we arrived at 7 AM and check in time says 4:00 PM there was no issue checking us into our Villa so we could grab a quick nap after flying all night from Boston. Would go here again and would recommend to friends and family who travel to Ireland! Beautiful country, too! ☘️🇮🇪❤️

Twelve years ago we visited the quaint village of Limerick Ireland and stayed in a villa at Adare Manor. The staff was so friendly and accommodating we felt like royalty.
Reminiscing, we decided to go back and stay in a villa at Adare Manor as we brought our husbands to show them how special this place is!
The Villa was not as we remembered, looked so bare and uninviting. The patio furniture is gone so now you cannot sit on the patio and enjoy.
We girls wanted to show our husbands the grounds and inside the lobby and perhaps the bar in the Manor. We were asked if we were guests at the Manor and we said yes we were staying at the Villas for a week. “Oh you’re staying at the Villas?”, you cannot come inside the Manor, it is for our guests staying at the Manor. You cannot step foot inside. “. WOW…..
Every move we made we were watched…..you can’t park here, you cannot be here, you cannot walk here…. I seriously just wanted to leave and go where we were wanted and be treated kindly.
The next day we went to the Manor and wanted to book Falconry, a tour and tea. Once again we were told we cannot step foot inside that there were very important people there and we would just have to wait until another day and we should check with reception at the carriage house.
So, apparently we are not important, our money is not needed and we girls left very upset and insulted.
Let me add we could afford to stay in the manor but we wanted the privacy the Villa provides, and our travel pkg with Great Value Vacations was for the Villas.
The older gentleman at the gate was the only employee that treated us like royalty.
This is NOT the ADARE we knew and loved years ago. There is zero customer service. Without hesitation I DO NOT recommend staying here, unless of course you like to be treated less than you are….
Will NEVER waste my time, energy or money to stay here again. This experience made our much needed vacation very disappointing.

We were greeted by John in his top hat and he made us feel like family he was glad to see. Sean checked us in and he did his best to give us all kinds of information. Again - felt like family. The villa was beautiful and every room was perfect. I have been to several countries and every state in the US and this is the very best accommodation I have ever experienced. Thank you Adare Manor for making this trip so wonderful!

We very much enjoyed our stay, and laughed that, "I can't believe they let us in in our dinky rental car!"
All the staff, from the gentlemen at the gate, who said "Welcome Home" when we returned, to the staff at check-in and those we met as we wandered, were absolutely gracious and genteel.
The villa was somewhat more pedestrian. It had all the amenities, an en-suite bath, televisions, laundry facilities, and a full kitchen. There was evidence of minor maintenance issues, which we reported upon check-out.

Long review ahead – skip ahead to the end for summary recommendations if you don’t want to read the whole review!
Our stay at the Villas was included as part of a vacation package so therefore we didn't have a choice, however we were more than happy with the Villas! I always read reviews before I go so I know what to expect. I don't really understand the bad reviews that pick this place apart. Of course, we were there in December so it could be different in the summer. But, we absolutely loved this place and were sad to have to leave. Yes, there are some minor things that I guess could be better, but I chalked this up to being in a different country and that's how things are, and you have to roll with it. Also, this is not a typical hotel...if you are expecting to be pampered and cleaned up after, you will be disappointed. This is basically a townhouse/vacation rental and you have to make a little effort to take care of yourself. Full kitchen worked out great for us as we like to keep our own snacks on hand. A quick trip to the small store in town and we were well equipped! Note, the store closes earlier than we are used to in the US...shop early in the day! Plenty of dishes and cooking utensils in the kitchen for the four of us, and there is a dishwasher so it really was no trouble to put our dirty dishes in and run the dishwasher as needed; detergent tablets are provided (two or three I think) and if you are there longer and need more, you can purchase in town. Same for laundry detergent (two tablets provided). Washer/dryer are smaller than we are used to but we made do, and honestly it was a luxury for us to be able to wash our clothes (and allowed for lighter packing) especially when we got wet/muddy during the day. Note the wash & dry cycles take awhile, so plan accordingly. It worked well for us to run a load at bedtime and then run the dryer in the morning before we left for the day. Instructions for the washer/dryer were provided. Bedrooms were large and comfortable, and it was so nice to each have a bathroom to ourselves. Big soaking tub in the master bedroom! The dining and living rooms were also large and comfortable. Our only wish was for a fireplace! There was a nice little patio area just outside the living room, if the weather were better it would have been nice to sit outside. Our villa overlooked the golf course and was a very pretty view. There are American outlets (one in each bedroom and one in the kitchen). We brought a USB power strip so were able to plug in all our cell phones. I also brought a converter so was able to plug in other things (camera charger, etc). One thing I could not find was an outlet in the bathrooms, which I thought was odd but we used the ones in the bedroom for the hairdryers. Note, there is a hairdryer in each bedroom and it is stored in the small vanity/dresser (full size hairdryer, too…not a travel size, which I really appreciated). There was a lot of closet and dresser space for our clothes, including hangers in the bedroom closets. And there was a safe in the master bedroom closet.
As I mentioned, they don’t clean up after you. Be prepared to wash your own dishes and towels if necessary. They will, however, take out your trash daily (although you do have to bag it and leave it in the entry way). You are given a list of instructions when you check in, which should provide all the info you need to know. If you have any questions or issues, the staff in the reception office are very friendly and helpful but only there from 9-5:30pm.
WiFi is available but not free. It cost us 20 euros for seven days for up to six devices. We found this to be reasonable, and we did need it so we paid for it
It seems that many of the complaints from other reviewers are regarding the construction, thankfully most of it appears to have been completed by the time we arrived. We took a walk through the grounds on our last day there and were able to walk all the way to the manor and onto the golf course. We didn’t have much time to wander (and honestly felt a little like we were trespassing) so we didn’t go far. But we didn’t get kicked out and the manor and garden was beautiful.
One last item I would like to mention is the gentlemen at the front gate. We arrived late (past time to check in at reception) and they were very helpful with getting us our keys and providing other information. Also, they greeted us every night and asked how our day was. If our vacation was a cake, those gentlemen were the frosting on top!
This is what is provided in the villa:
Two small soap bars in each bathroom (we travel with our own toiletries, or you can purchase soap & shampoo/conditioner at the store)
Laundry and dishwasher detergent tablets (two or three of each; buy more detergent at the store if needed)
Dish soap and scrub brush, two dish towels
Salt (buy other spices/seasonings if needed, or we pilfered packets of sugar, butter, ketchup & mustard from the restaurants)
Towels – two each of bath towels, hand towels and washcloth in each bathroom + a bath mat. If you don’t like re-using towels, you will have to wash them or pay for extra towels.
French press for coffee – we had never used one and it took some trial and error. There is also a kettle…great for tea! I bought some chamomile at the store and had a cup each night.
Dishes, cups, utensils, coffee cups, glasses (we found them in the china hutch in the dining area) – enough to last four of us a couple of days without running the dishwasher
My recommendations:
Buy supplies at either Centra or Londis in town. Go early in the day, as they close by 8 or 9pm. Some things we found we needed: bottled water, paper towels, snacks and other food to take with us on the road (bread, cheese, lunchmeat for sandwiches…stuff like that), tea, coffee, breakfast foods (milk, yogurt, eggs, oatmeal, pastries, sugar). Buy fine ground coffee for the French press.
Read the information packet and washer/dryer instructions that are provided. Wash/dry cycle is long (depends on setting) - plan ahead!
Bring a power adapter, extension cords and/or power strips if you have a lot of devices to charge
If you have questions beforehand, email or call the Villas. They were very responsive when I emailed to ask some questions.
If you are arriving after dark, slow down as the main entrance is difficult to see. Also, once you pass through the main gate, the villas are about 1km further (don’t panic…you’re not lost…keep going and you will see the gate for the Villas). The house numbers are difficult to see in the dark. Each building has three villas connected and there is a small parking area in front of each building. Use it! No need to park on the narrow street!
Relax and be nice to people!

Since this review will certainly run counter to the "gushing" comments written about this place, let me clear about a few things. These comments do NOT refer to the village Adare which we loved and enjoyed nor do they concern the ADARE MANOR which we were NOT able to see at all (not even from a distance). This review regards the Adare Villas and its disgraceful unwelcoming approach. I wanted very much to offer ourselves a romantic and care free stay in a luxury establishment. Instead:
- We found ourselves in the middle of a vast construction area, with bulldozers and working machines going ceaseless from cc. 6 am to nightfall practically outside our windows. Sleep was a challenge and all we could see around us was debris. The 1.3 km drive from the entrance gate to our villa was just a drive through a construction site.
- While we knew the manor would be closed we did not expect to be "walled off" from EVERYTHING. None of the vaunted gardens, parks, lakes, river walks, ecc. described in the various brochures and advertising materials were available to us or even visible. The vaunted castle ruins (on grounds we had paid for) could not be reached except by purchasing a ticket in town.
- Residence staff was useless, smug and acted as if bothered by the guests. Nowhere were we able to "appreciate both the beauty of the enchanting estate as well as the finest of Irish hospitality" (in their brochure). On arrival we received a 4 page memo mostly detailing what it would cost extra if we needed services or amenities that in other 5 stars (or less) establishment would be provided freely. List is way too long to write here but, for example. We were provided with 2 soaps for 2 people for 6 nights. Any other soap would E1 each. Washing up liquid E3; box of tissues E3; slippers E10; a full service of the villa E150; extra sheet E6, etc. etc. Check out at 10 am or E50 extra PER HOUR.
- TVs in bedroom were old and small with no premium channels; remote controls old and VERY hard to change channels and volume with.
- No A/C even as nights were muggy and afternoon warm. Fixed temperature set at too warm and could not be changed.
- Windows could not be opened as construction noise was deafening. Also no screen, i.e. bugs and insects would and did fly in.
- The first evening all electrical appliances (TV, Fridge, toaster, etc) stopped. Called reception, maintenance was out until 8 PM but maybe WE could check the fuses. PATHETIC. We told them we were going out for the day and would like to see all taken care by the afternoon. We came back in afternoon to a flooded kitchen, spoiled food in fridge and nothing fixed. The receptionist came and was just standing around until I told her to clean the kitchen and change the fuse. It was never explained to us why the mess was not taken care of during the time we were out.
- We had to buy washing machine detergent, pepper, oil, coffee, EVERYTHING!
So much for a romantic and care free vacation. A SHAME!!
I am told that they plan to make this into a 7 star establishment after renovations. They better hire appropriate staff and give the welcoming lessons.
I would really appreciate hearing some comments from management but who am I kidding. What do they care?

The only reason I did not rate this as 5 star was because the interior of the Villa we stayed in (Villa 6) was in need of a facelift. New paint, carpets and flooring are much needed and are a quick fix. Having said that, the Manor grounds are magnificent, the town of Adare is very charming and there are several pubs and restaurants which we found to be excellent. The Villas are spacious with 3 bedrooms, 4 full baths, large American style kitchen/dining/living room so there is plenty of space to spread out especially if you are traveling with a group. Extremely helpful are the American outlets in each room so no adapter needed. FYI - hair dryers in each bedroom are located in the drawer of the table beneath the mirrors - took me a while to find! There is a washer/dryer so you can pack light. Staff was lovely and very helpful. On the grounds is The Carriage House which has a beautiful bar and two restaurants which was very convenient if you did not want to leave the grounds for a meal. The grounds are truly spectacular and well worth a walk around in the early morning or evening.
Adare is a 30 minute, easy drive from Shannon and is a superb location for day trips. My husband and I like to have a base of operation and take day trips. I do not particularly care for speeding each night in a different hotel as you never really absorb the atmosphere of Ireland. There are plenty of day trips within 1-2 hours of Adare and I highly recommend taking a day trip to Killaloe (beautiful town on Lough Derg) and the Rock of Cashel in Tipperary.
Another small criticism is Villa guests are not welcome at the Manor house except if you want high tea. Villa guests are restricted to the Carriage House. My husband and I have been guests at the Villas a few times - last time was 10 years ago and the Manor was open to all guests for meals and drinks. The Manor was just redone and looks magnificent. We were looking forward to having a drink and seeing the redo but it was not to be. All in all, I was very happy with the Villas, would recommend to all and would stay there again.

Our vacation was booked through Great Vacations several months in advance. After booking I contacted the property about what to expect in traveling the area, where to go what to see, etc. Prompt replies with help and a commitment to help when we arrived. Emma at Villa Reception was a perfect start to our vacation when we arrived with a beautiful smile, and no end to help, answering all our questions.
We have not traveled abroad before so there was a lot of planning for us. Pictures are not always the best representation of a property, but in this case ... perfect. Our Villa was well appointed and had all the comforts one needs on vacation. It was very clean! The beds were very comfortable with nice white down comforters and the baths were roomy with BIG towels. We only used the kitchen for breakfast and coffee in the evening. There wasn't a traditional coffee maker, but the French press served well. The Villas are set on a world class golf course (being renovated) and set just 5 minutes from Adare Village with nice shops, great pubs, and places to eat. Food was some of the best we have eaten anywhere. We were blown away at the courtesy and friendliness of the people. We felt like we were family.
We are thinking of a return visit to Ireland and Adare Villa will be our place to stay.

Sorry but we were not aware of any indoor pool !
By the way, for grocery shopping Aldi is awesome. Totally different products than in the US. All the bread and pastries we bought were delicious.
Yes, there is an American outlet in each bedroom (in kitchen, etc. too). We didn’t need adapters. Enjoy!
Yes they are
You can walk around the grounds as well as the public places in the Manor. You may also have dinner at the Manor but there is a dress code. We did not take dress clothes so we didn't try to make a reservation. Next time we will be prepared. It is a wonderful place to stay whether the Villas, the Lodges or the manor.
