Detailed Reviews
On a road trip to Ireland my wife and me were moving around near Limerick loking for a palce to stay. Spotted this B&B and drovein. The host, Bernadette, was warm and gracious. She showed me the rooms and I picked up the one with largest beds. This property is classy, neat and elegant. Highly recommended, would have loved to spend a night more.

I've stopped in many a hotel and paid much more for a lot less than Carabawn offers it's guests. What exceptionally clean rooms and conveniences, modern and tastefully decorated to a high standard. I would highly recommend staying in this home from home, the hosts were attentive and professional and the breakfast was just what you'd expect from such a refreshingly good service. Book mark this place you won't be disappointed !

Orchard Cottage is absolutely lovely ideal for a two week break in Ireland. We were made very welcome and Bernadette gave us great advice on what to do and places to go when we arrived. Thank you Bernadette for such a wonderful holiday. We had a fantastic stay.

I stayed a night in this b and b this October and found it very unwelcoming and dated. While the not ice on the door said "Cead Mile Failte",( a hundred thousand welcomes) the greeting I received consisted of "Sign this form, can you pay me now please". They diidn't take credit cards and I had to pay up front 6O euros for a single room. Then a curt "breakfast from 8 till 9.3O" . The bedroom was cold - eventhough I had told them, I would be arriving mid-afternoon, they hadn't put on the heating. While the bedroom and bathroom were clean with plenty of good coat hangers in the cupboard, the decor was 1970's - pink bathroom ware, old mira shower which took for ever to heat up and then emitted a trickle of water. The light over the bathroom mirror wasn't working. There was some water in the kettle which might have been there all Summer - otherwise one was expected to fill the aged kettle from the bathroom tap. Fortunately, I had brough my own mineral water. No bath sheet - just two bath towels one of which was old and frayed.
The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was poor - tinned grapefruit segments/fruit salad. The brown bread was not home-made.
They had a lovely garden..In summary, one is a sitting duck for shoddy service in Adare. The local hotel is constantly booked up with wedding functions etc., and the overflow has to stay elsewhere. The house is on the main busy road from Limerick to Kerry.

We chose this B&B by chance, and we had the best luck ever. We stayed in the Wexford room, which faced the back garden. It was the first b&b we stayed in which tea-making kit also had biscuits! Brigette and her daughter were absolutely wonderful, they loved to talk with us and suggested us a nice restaurant for the night. The breakfast was a buffet of traditional continental brakfast, and other dishes, such as bacon and eggs and porridge were cooked on request. It was sad to leave!

I can’t say enough about this lovely B&B! Bernadette is Carrabawn House’s proprietor and gracious hostess. She warmly greeted us upon our arrival, and was wonderful with our children.
She keeps this home away from home welcoming and sparkling clean. Everything we needed was provided for us in the two rooms we stayed in, which are nicely decorated, extremely clean, and seem newly updated. The bathrooms and showers are spic and span. The air was very fresh in the rooms, as well. It is nice and quiet there at night (and during the day) and the beds and pillows are very comfortable.
The back garden is a work of art. A curvy pathway leads to an inviting bench and little garden pond, ensconced in a variety of flowering plants and trees. And keep an eye out for the garden’s own bunnies. 🐰
Breakfast, served 8am-9:30am, was delicious. Several tasty selections are offered and cooked to perfection by The Lovely Bernadette. Her staff is very friendly and helpful, as well. They gave us a nice send-off and tips on places to explore as we continued our travels down to Dingle.
We really did have the perfect stay at Carrabawn House. Thank you, Bernadette!

This was our first experience staying in a Bed and Breakfast. We decided that while traveling around Ireland it should be on our "Bucket List". We are soooo happy that we did! Bernadette and Bridget were so friendly. The house is quaint and tranquil, the gardens are gorgeous and the room was adorable and spacious. The breakfast in the morning was fabulous. I really enjoyed this experience, most of all the opportunity to mingle a bit with locals which is always important while traveling. I definitely recommend this B&B.

We dropped in unexpectedly around 12 lunchtime to ask if there was a room available. The whole house was available and we were welcome to check in straight away which was a nice bonus. By late afternoon the house was full to capacity. Bernadette and her helpful English aunt were very nice, chatty ladies and gave us info about the area as all good hosts should. Adar is a truly lovely village with plenty of eateries and just enough to see and do. We followed Bernadette's advice to go to Adare Manor House which was well worth the visit. Clean and comfortable room, a good standard breakfast and a nice easy walk into the township for dinner. Well priced B & B for the area and we would recommend this venue to anyone.

Surbiton, United Kingdom14 contributions10 helpful votesJust returned from Pembroke Lodge - what happened to the 'refurbishment' of the restaurant. Dreadful dark furniture and too much of it - no space for wheelchairs or buggies. Couldn't wait to leave. Nice new light coloured chairs in the rooms used for weddings, events etc - why was this colour scheme not used throughout ??
