Florence is a special woman, really kind and friendly, her puppies are lovely, the town is really nice and the house is absolutely comfortable.
We couldn't have desired a better accomodation.
Definitely recommended!!!

Myself and a buddy had the pleasure of traveling around Ireland last week, staying in different B&B's along the way. Coatesland House was easily our favorite. Florence was a great host. She had been doing this for years and it showed! The house, bedroom, and bathrooms were incredibly clean and well stocked with the basic amenities. She also provided each room with candy, tea, cookies, a heated towel rack, etc. My friend and I had accidentally slept through our alarm for breakfast while staying there. Florence had to leave for an appointment, but she made sure to fix us our breakfast and put it in the oven before leaving. Bottom line- great house with a great host.

Coatesland House is an amazing B&B! Hospitality, friendliness and cleanliness galore- not to mention the breakfasts were delicious every single morning. Florence (the owner) is a wonderfully welcoming hostess, and in an instant you feel like you've known each other for years. The house is clean and beautifully decorated. There is a lovely sitting room with a fireplace and television where you can unwind early in the morning or late at night. The breakfast room is a large sunroom filled with goodies and a set table for each room. This is the second time my family has used this B&B, and I cannot say enough great things about Coatesland. It's a must if you are traveling anywhere near the Adare area!

We stayed two nights at the Coatesland Guesthouse this past October, and wish we had had more time in our schedule to stay longer. This was the best of our B&B experiences during two weeks in Ireland, and most of the other experiences were also very good. Our room was lovely, the breakfasts were fantastic, and we enjoyed the comfort and conversations of most of the house. Florence and Donal are great hosts. They shared the history of the village, and all the things to see, do, and where to eat. Any easy walk to the town center, also.

I cannot say enough good things about Coatesland House in Adare. From the great rooms and bathrooms to the amazing breakfast this place is great! Our favorite part of our stay at Coatesland House is how wonderful Florence and Donal are. They made sure we felt welcome and well taken care of. I am not surprised that they have a high rate of return because I cannot imagine coming to Ireland again without visiting this great Bed and Breakfast.

My third stay, and my second review of this outstanding B&B. Not much to add - still immaculately clean, well-equipped, fresh fruit in your room, nicely decorated, quiet, comfortable beds and convenient to everything in Adare. That said, Flo and Donal are still the real reasons to stay at Coatesland.

Two examples of their incredible hospitality:
1) Another couple staying at Coatesland had inadvertently left a sweater at a hotel in Limerick. Not wanting to drive back to Limerick, they had decided to just forget about it and continue their vacation. They had mentioned it in casual conversation with Flo and Donal. Flo, who had some business to take care of in Limerick, drove to the hotel and picked up the sweater for them. She surprised them with the sweater while we were in the lounge area enjoying an evening chat with Flo and Donal.
2) Our flight home departs Shannon at about 9 AM, so we must leave the B&B at 6:30 - well before their normal breakfast hours. When we came downstairs, Flo was awake, the coffee was hot, and delicious porridge (with cinnamon, honey and strawberries - yumm), fruit, and breakfast rolls were available. We had about 10 minutes to enjoy the breakfast and Flo's company, then drove to the airport.

You won't find better B&B hosts than Flo and Donal. They are genuine, people-loving people. We'll be staying at Coatesland house again, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Adare.

Spent our first 3 nights in Ireland at Coatesland B & B.What an introduction to the beauty and charm of Ireland!
Florence is the most gracious hostess and Donal makes the best irish oatmeal (porridge) in all of Ireland. They really made my Mom and me feel like family. And if you are missing your dog back home, Winnie their portuguese water dog will let you pet her all you want. Our room was perfect, wonderfully cozy and warm. Irish hospitality at it's best!

Pulling into Coatesland House at the end of a long, weather challenged day from Doolin and the Aran Island was a like finding a shining beacon of light. Things only got better as I was warmly welcomed by Florence. A truly lovely person, she runs a phenomenal B&B where she has thought about every last detail to make your stay as comfortable as possible. It’s spotlessly clean, homey, and everything runs smoothly. There are sitting areas inside and outside (which is also lovely). After getting acquainted with Florence and her darling dogs, she gave me the best recommendation for dinner which was perfect after my long day. And we bonded over our shared connections to my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. Her place is centrally located to make the easy and visually appealing walk into Adare. By the way, Adare is a perfect place to stay being less than two hours from both the cliffs and Dingle. I’m so glad I stumbled on this gorgeous little village in one of my guidebooks and then found Coatesland House for boarding. My only regret is that I stayed for only one night. I’m already dreaming of coming back. (And yes....breakfast IS wonderful)

asked a question Feb 2018
Wicklow, Ireland
Why do you write such post event justifications in response to my second review? You know I complained about the noise, cold shower, & cold room when I moved temporarily to what you subsequently call your old bedroom/office? Another student stayed in that room before while I occupied the better room upstairs if you recall? As for breakfast, I supplied & made my own breakfasts, you did offer me porridge when it was leftover from your other guests. You never had to get up to make breakfast for me. Indeed, I cleaned up dog poo & wee from the kitchen & utility room when I was up before you... I get an accommodation allowance paid for my the local education board, not social welfare, and it did not cover the money we agreed I would pay you to stay 5 nights a week, ie €20 per night without breakfast etc. That’s €15 discount on your normal single night charge. Considering the length of the booking, it was a fair price for both of us for the upstairs room. Again, I volunteered to move onto the downstairs room to help you with an over booking. You said it was temporary. I tried to help you in return for the value deal I got initially. I replaced bulbs etc inside & out, even got coal & logs in to save you the trouble... Like I said, eaten bread, soon forgotten... We agreed I would stay until I completed my course. It suited your business plan too. You didn’t mention you were helping me out because I was stuck or that it was only for the winter. You knew how long I was planning on staying... Anyway, I regret you are not the person you pretend to be... I will miss Winne mostly. :(
