We think a night in an old castle is a must do when visiting Ireland. The Abbeyglen is located near Clifden on the Sky Road. Unfortunately the weather was very bad, so we enjoyed the facilities of the castle. Rooms are what you expect (you're in a castle), clean and spacious. We had dinner there. It's not the usual hotel...

Stayed here with some friends for a long weekend in October. This is our 5th visit to the abbeyglen & it is without doubt the best place to stay in clifden. Checkin was efficient & the lady that checked us in took us to our room. The room was lovely with a great view over to the town of clifden....

We were told the morning of our trip to clifden that the owner is unique and how true that is! We got a lovely room with a huge jacuzzi bath.the staff were excellent and the atmosphere was one of fun. The owner produced a leprechaun at dinner which was very amusing.there was free tea and scones on arrival and a...

The atmosphere on this hotel is charming, warm, cosy and friendly. It is a bit quirky, and that was what we were looking for. Great food in the evenings, good breakfastbuffé with lot off staff filling up your coffe. Very silent corridors. Our 2-yearold enjoyed the fontain, the large lawn and the playground just outside the property. It is a...

Abbeyglen is a wonderful place to start an Irish vacation. The room was nice, quaint and clean. The castle seems to be well maintained with a very friendly helpful staff. The food was good and there was lots of it. The bar/reception was a great experience to hear some local music and meet some wonderful fellow guests from Wales, also...

We spent the last two nights of our two week trip at this beautiful hotel. We ate dinner here both nights and our meals were excellent. The happy hour history chat is fun and informative. The location is perfect for enjoying the beautiful drives around Connemara. We would have loved to have spent more time in this location.

We stayed one night in September. Had a beautiful room on the main floor. Moira checked us in and was lovely. Breakfast was served in a sunny dining room and the buffet was delicious and had something for everyone. Even had some smoked salmon and croissant along with the regular Irish breakfast. We would highly recommend this hotel. Sadly, we...

We spent one night at Abbeyglen, and wished we could've actually stayed longer. The rooms and building are old but sound, and it adds to the atmosphere of staying in a castle. You feel part of the family, as there is welcome champagne and snacks in the early evening and a small history lesson about the hotel and the area....

We have been coming for three to five nights for years. Last year we thought things had slipped -cheaper meat cuts etc - but sadly things haven't improved this year. Hotel still lovely, rooms excellent, service almost as good as always, but the food is really a disappiintment. Menu changes little from day to day. If you love fish and...
