I can add very little to what others have already written here about Bantry House, other than to say that it's all true. My husband and I stayed for three nights at the end of October and enjoyed it immensely. The house itself is very handsome and atmospheric. It is located in a wonderful setting overlooking Bantry Bay, with a... More

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at the Bantry House in Bantry, Ireland, and had a great experience. Sophie greeted us and settled us into our large, beautiful room right away. Super comfortable bed, new bath with heated tile floor and heated towel rack plus a view of Bantry Bay Made this room exceptional. There is a small Honor... More

We arrived late at night and were appreciative of the warm welcome and roaring fire and drinks in the library. Our room was on the top floor with an amazing view overlooking the stables and Bantry Bay. Easily one of our favorite rooms in Ireland which was updated and the furnishings beautiful. The pictures we have from our stay at... More

Childhood home of Sophie Shelswell-White, she remains the general manager of the estate and accommodations. The estate is steeped in history, and the views are truly spectacular. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, and it is a short walk to town. We explored the estate twice, once when we arrived, and again before we left. Staying here is like immersing yourself... More

If I could give this a 10 star review I would! We had a very intimate wedding with 2 guests. Sophie was amazing with all her help and was really prompt answering all my email questions. The room we had was huge, beautiful, clean, and I totally felt at home. We had a 180 degree view of the bay and... More

We booked a room at Bantry House and excitedly anticipated our stay there. It far exceeded our expectations. Our room was spacious and had dual views: one overlooking Bantry Bay and the other facing towards the gardens. Breakfast was delicious and was served in a very lovely lower room. We booked a private tour of the house with Sophie, the... More

Having stayed in this historic we were in awe of the work that is being undertaken and the potential of their enterprise The accommodation is comfortable and well appointed and we loved the fact that we could, in the evening, sit in the library by the wood fire. The gardens are a great place for a walk and the breakfast... More

Stayed night of September 20-21, 2016 My words and description do not do justice to this home, its gardens and location. Nor do my words adequately convey the incredible hospitality shown to us by Sophie and all others at Bantry House. Absolutely incredible and special place. This is old world luxury without being pretentious. We entered through a gate into... More

Communication with Sophie while booking was excellent, as the reception. Rooms are old, but comfortable; sound insulation is very bad, though. As a guest you can move freely in the castle itself, which is not big, but the blue/golden room (a bit hidden in the basenent) is worth the visit alone. Breakfast was a delight!

We stayed only one night in this wonderful B&B, unfortunately. Bantry House is a wonderful historic home and has half a dozen or so B&B rooms in one wing. The rooms are spacious and have a separate bathroom with bath and shower and toilet. We had a fantastic view over the garden from our room. The bed was comfy and... More
