Stayed for a night and enjoyed the eclectic b&b. Room was nice and owner Anthony very friendly and helpful. Great location! Cannot be more central in Athlone. Try the good Lebanese restaurant next to the b&b.

Our host seemed genuinely nice and friendly, and wanted to make sure we were all set to have a good time. The long loft room was very spacious for my son and I, though a bit stuffy, and there was a step up and back down between the beds and bathroom that despite warning, was hazardous in the middle of...

We stayed here for 1 night and would certainly stay again. The rooms are basic, comfortable and very clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is excellent with some of the best bars and restaurants right on the door step. We look forward to our next visit.

Take a look at the photos of Bastion on the website - it's a breath of fresh air! We stayed in the loft room which was full of plants, windows, and eclectic artwork. The beds were comfortable and the room clean, with a reasonable rate even with the drama festival in town (by coincidence). Although there was not hot breakfast,...

My daughter and I found this place on line before our September trip a couple of years ago and I always meant to review it, as it so deserves a good one. I called Anthony from the US to ask a few questions about driving from Dublin to Athlon and he was very helpful. I just cannot imagine anybody not...

Lovely clean friendly place. Perfect location, near great pubs . Lots of cool decor to look at . Bed was clean and comfortable. Only problem is that the shower/toilet is downstairs ,but that was also very clean . Overall it was a pleasant stay . Would recommend to anyone .

Stayed for 1 night only, room a bodge-up of all sorts of materials, poor shower not working very well, mirror over sink not central, plenty of money at 70 euros, should be 40-50. Breakfast was very good.

“Book in advance to get the larger upstairs loft room which is converted from an old dorm for young tradesman apprentices. A phone call ahead of time will give you all the information that you need. The whole inn is a series of old wood staircases leading to rooms here and there and off to the sides--all decorated with interest and comfort in mind. Our large room was remarkable for the fact that it could easily slept four to six people, and the huge beds were so comfortable that it was hard to roll out and start the day. Also, the tiny balcony offered a fine view of the trees that had just begun their fall color. If you plan to start in Dublin and move toward the West Coast, this is exactly mid-point, and many scenic and historic places are nearby as well.”
