We were fortunate to be able to stay at Bastion B&B for one night in May whilst touring Ireland and were offered the Studio which was beautiful with much character. Anthony and Vinny were great hosts with offering us great service and advice when we ask for travel destinations. Athlone is also a beautiful village and not to be missed.

We stopped for a night in Athlone and stayed at the Bastion B/B. The inside of the building is extremely neat, with many different split stair cases and aged stairways. The building definitely has charm, which is reflected by its exterior paint job. Our hosts were very friendly, and provided us with maps and suggestions for grabbing some lunch upon...

We were delighted with this charming B&B. The two brothers who own this property have decorated it with wonderful artwork and artifacts from their travels. They are very welcoming and accommodating and provide helpful information about local attractions. The rooms and bathrooms are simply and tastefully decorated. The breakfast was delicious - local cheeses, delicious breads, fresh fruit, granola, etc....

The decor is indescribable! As we walked in I thought it really wasn't a place for us but we had a great night's sleep. No Irish breakfast but a decent continental one. I forgot to ask for a hair dryer when we checked in - none in the room that I could find. Didn't know how to get in touch...

This is a fascinating old building and beautifully decorated, creating a peaceful atmosphere from the moment you walk in the door. The rooms are clean, neat and comfortable. The breakfast counts as my best breakfast anywhere, but as other reviewers have pointed out don't expect a cooked breakfast. Anthony was welcoming and friendly, and this was a great place for...

I stayed here for one night in a twin room with my mother, we had 2 separate rooms which was lovely. The B&B is beautifully decorated and the owners are really friendly and helpful. It is located right in the centre of the town so really convenient. Would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our one-night stay at this lovely B&B! The decor is fun and the accomodations, perfect! Breakfast was a wonderful spread and we enjoyed chatting with the other guests. The proprietor was very responsive when we emailed from the US regarding the stay and tours. The recommended the Lebanese restaurant next door, which was acceptional. The tour company, Midland...

We stayed at the Bastion B&B for one night during our trip to Ireland. We were greeted with winding staircases and interesting decor that created a very zen, artsy feeling. The room was very large (we had a twin ensuite room and the beds were actually in separate rooms which was nice) and clean. The bathroom was the standard small...

Charming and quirky townhouse with narrow staircases and winding landings. All full of lovely bits and pieces that the (very nice) owners must have picked up on their travels. Also a very comfy sitting room with sink-into armchairs and a nice library of books. We stayed in the Loft room which aesthetically was absolutely lovely, just as it is pictured...

“Book in advance to get the larger upstairs loft room which is converted from an old dorm for young tradesman apprentices. A phone call ahead of time will give you all the information that you need. The whole inn is a series of old wood staircases leading to rooms here and there and off to the sides--all decorated with interest and comfort in mind. Our large room was remarkable for the fact that it could easily slept four to six people, and the huge beds were so comfortable that it was hard to roll out and start the day. Also, the tiny balcony offered a fine view of the trees that had just begun their fall color. If you plan to start in Dublin and move toward the West Coast, this is exactly mid-point, and many scenic and historic places are nearby as well.”
