My family and I stayed at Avarest while traveling threw Ireland. We were treated very well and enjoyed our stay Breakfast was great and they went out of their way to help us with anything we needed. I would highly recommend staying there !
My niece and I spent one night at Avarest on our road trip through Southern Ireland and we loved it! The room, the location, the breakfast--all perfect. We even had a first class check in from Deirdre's son, Edward! Thanks so much -- we really...More
This was a wonderful stay close to many different attractions and castles with many nearby restaurants. It's a quiet property hidden away from the freeway, and we slept very soundly here. The breakfast was also very good.
This is the perfect place to stop if you're flying into Shannon! If you have an early morning arrival, then you should rally and spend the day in Bunratty doing the castle, shops, and cafes, then check into the Avarest Bunratty. Deirdre is fantastic -...More
Nothing to complain about as the room was clean, adequate, spacious with comfortable beds. Beware that there are no cups in the room. Free coffee and drinks in the lounge only. One may surmise why. Breakfast is very good.

Yes, they are definitely there. Every bed and breakfast we stayed at was the hosts actual home so there is little chance of any B&B being 'closed' or empty. I'm not sure about contacting them by email or via their website, but I was just there last week. They were talking about the start of the season and how they would be having a full house from our stay going forward.
It may be a comfort to know that when we made our reservations we never confirmed them. Regardless, when we arrived at every B&B we were fully expected and welcomed including Avarest.
I think people in Ireland do things differently than we do in the states. I wouldn't worry.

"If you are visiting Bunratty try to get into this B&B first. A must place to stay"
