Our stay at this hotel was nearly perfect. We arrived *very* late at night after driving over an hour in heavy fog and they received us without any problems. They moved us to a room with a better view when we asked, and although the breakfast was simple, they did their best to take care of every single request we made. We had a great time at this hotel and we will not hesitate to stay here again if we are ever in the area. This is a great hotel to stay at if you want to explore Peru's archeological treasures like Bandurria, Caral, and/or Vachama!
Beautiful location with rooms overlooking the bay with sound of surf. Fantastic sunsets from balcony. Staff, especially Gerson, was very friendly and he went out of his way to attend to us. We would walk along the beach road to get to town. Very pleasant. BUT! Unfortunately, the hotel doubles as an event center and two of the four nights we were there they had events that went on into the early hours with music that shook the building. It was horrible. The following mornings breakfasts were not very good with cold coffee and limited food. If you use this hotel, I would certainly ask for a front room with sea view and ask if there are any events booked.
We called and asked to reserve their nicest room. When my wife, our daughter and I arrived we were given a Oceanview room with a double bed. Not sure where they thought the three of us would sleep. We were able to get a non Oceanview room with a double and single bed but at a increased cost. When we checked out they added fees for the towels, pillows and a fan.
We drove all the day to reach Huacho, so when we had to choose between a room with a view and another one with jacuzzi, the choice was simple. Unfortunatelly, the water wasn't hot enough and had no pressure to fill the big red bubble maker tube... But we survived and slept well, even if a 5.3 ML earthquake shook the city that night! Seriously. So the hotel has a safe structure. And clean rooms. And a nice roof-top terrace. And late breakfast. We could't enjoy it, because at 8 o'clock the cook was still sleeping, so we left gaving up our included breakfast. Anyway, with all its positive and negative aspects and considering the other (missing) options in town, Mar de Costa is a good place to spend one or two nights. Maybe during summer season is more welcoming...
I've been here for a weekend. The ocean view was awesome and staff was always willing to help you. It is not located in the center but it is not a big problem since there are plenty of cabs and "moto taxis" that can take you there in 5 minutes. The room was clean and got everything as described. Despite it is not a five stars hotel, I have nothing to complain about. It is not easy to find a good hotel in Huacho.
