We stayed here for almost a month when my wife had a fall in a nearby village and broke her ankle. The apartment is several kilometres from Sulmona in Vallelarga. The apartment was lovely, very comfortable, spacious and importantly for us, wheelchair friendly. We can't thank our host Domenic enough. He interpreted for us when we required his help and...

We were there with host Dominic on Sept. 18, 2015. It was a great spot to use as a base while exploring family heritage in the historic section of the old town of Pettorano sul Gizio. Large rooms...great for a multi-night stay.

We are a family of 4 with 2 young boys. We stayed here for 4 nights and had a great time. The room is exactly as the pictures suggest. It is spacious and comfortable and has most things needed for a self catering stay. The host provided us with a few basics in the room - and water, milk, and...

I recently made a pilgrimage to the charming hill town of Pettorano sul Gizio nestled in the beautiful Genzana Mountains to explore my great-grandparents' birthplace. Domenico, our host, went far beyond the call of duty. He generously offered to translate for me at town hall to assist with my search for information on my family. With Domenico's help, I was...

Beautifull surrounding, friendly host, and a spacious and lovely appartment. We were given the option to 'upgrade' our reserved appartment, allthough it was lovely, to an even bigger one, with full equipment kitchen utilities, for only € 5 per night, which was worth it. We had a view on the front side, lovely look over the mountains. Very peacefull stay,...

Enchanting is the best word I can think of to describe my experiences at II Poggio Dei Pettirossi and Pettorano Sul Gizio! I will return often! I have had the phenomenal opportunity to have stayed at the II Poggio Dei Pettirossi twice this year and have found it 'completely enchanting'. The accommodations, which, I might add include microwaves, refrigerators and...

Pettorano sul Gizio may not top anyone's list for vacation destinations (in fact, most Italians have never even heard of it); however, it may be one of the best kept secrets in Italy. It is a small medieval town atop an outcropping of a mountain in Abruzzo. Il Poggio dei Pettirossi is located about 1 mile outside the town in...

Il Poggio Dei Pettirossi is a pleasant hotel about two kilometres outside the main town of Pettorano sul Gizio, Abruzzo. The owner of the hotel, Dominic, is an American / Italian dual citizen who speaks perfect English and provides excellent advice on what to see and where to eat in the area. The only downside is that it is too...
