Cannot fault this place. Good size clean room, the most comfortable bed and great shower. Brilliant friendly service from all staff, lovely food. Just a one night stay for work but perfect really, couldnt ask for more.

The hotel has really friendly, helpful staff, who can't do enough to make your experience enjoyable. The room was spacious tea, coffee, ironing facilities. The bathroom had both shower and bath. The meal was as usual really tasty, well cooked, well presented and good value for money. I've travelled a lot but this is the best hotel I've stayed in.

I attend the wedding of friends here. (I was the photographer). The rooms are beautiful and out of the way of the bar and venue area. It is decorated in a very traditional manner which was great for photographs. The bar area is very nice too perfectly set out. None of the guests could complain. Also delicious food.

We had a pre Christmas family get together over the nicest Christmas lunch I have ever had in a hotel. From arranging the lunch with the hotel to departing after our meal everything was excellent. We had the restaurant to ourselves (a group of 6) and the table was beautifully decorated and immediately put us in the festive spirit. Service...

I can't comment on the rooms but I met some friends here for a meal on a weekday evening. The menu had a wide choice plus specials. I had a lamb burger with feta cheese & cant wait to return for another. We all enjoyed our meals immensely & will certainly be returning. It had a lovely friendly atmosphere &...

Stayed here for a wedding in early November. Hotel is a little dated in places but it's clean, staff were very friendly and made lots of effort to make my friend's day special. Excellent food at the wedding breakfast. Ask for rooms away from the road if you struggle to sleep without noise.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located on the Scottish / English border, Gretna Green is world famous for its runaway marriages and in the mid nineteenth century there was much rivalry between the various marriage house proprietors ... The Gretna Chase Hotel was built by John Murray, an extremely successful businessman in the marriage trade, and tenant of Allison's toll-bar. Completed in 1856, Murray built the hotel opposite the toll-bar. It proved very popular with clients, being the first in the area to offer stabling for horses. Today, The Gretna Chase Hotel offers modern amenities, but retains much of its original character. All bedrooms have pleasant views of the surrounding countryside, and public rooms are furnished in a style in-keeping with the age of the hotel. Fully licensed, privately owned and completely supervised by the owners, this small but extremely comfortable hotel offers the discerning guest a carefree informality away from city pressures. We would be delighted to show you around the hotel by appointment , to highlight all the facilities we have to offer and discuss your personal requirements. ... more   less
