Me & my partner spent 5 days at this beautiful site, we took our dog too who loved it! The concept is brilliant & I can honestly say it one of the most peaceful & relaxing holidays I've ever had! There's plenty of lovely walks & you can hire a boat to take out on the beautiful lake a stone...

We visited here as a family of 5 - myself, hubby, Tommy (8), Alfie (5) and Molly the dog. We were greeted by Sally and shown to our tent by Jim. This was the only bit that felt a bit rushed but I think that's because we've stayed in feather down tents before so Jim perhaps felt we didn't need...

This place is magical! The "camping" area has three or four pitched tents which are more like lodges, with each having it's own private part of the site, with an extra "discovery" tent just for your group/party next to your main accommodation. The main tent is wonderful - flushing toilet and running water - but aside from that you get...

WOW. What an amazing place to stay such a peaceful and beautiful location. Hosts James & Sally are lovely hosts and such a pleasure to deal with they will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. We had a hot tub outside our tent which we had to heat up ourselves. Our stove was also done by burning logs, and...

We met our friends at The Apple Store Cafe and our reserved table was outside. The garden was beautiful and although it was very busy, the atmosphere was very relaxed. Three if us ordered sandwiches and my husband ordered the chowder. When our order arrived we were very impressed. Thesandwiches were full of filling, the bread was very tasty and the...

Lovely setting - beautiful lakeside/forest and great tents as described in other reviews. Initial welcome very warm but that was the last time we saw our host, and in fact the site is quite separate from the estate so if your going for a bit of country estate chi ( as advertised) you maybe a little disappointed. We also had...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This is what you'll find at your Country House Hideout: Tented luxury - A plumbed-in loo, luxurious bed and a hot-tub to call your own, all form part of your personal encampment.Bags of space - With room for up to eight, why not invite your best friends or favourite family?Discover nature - Your family will be off exploring the flora and fauna to get a closer look with the scientific instruments in the discovery tent. Carbon neutral - Save fossil fuels, pedal a bike to power up the lights in your tent. Our hearts leapt when we saw Wyresdale Park for the first time - this is surely the original setting for Swallows and Amazons. A lake for boating and swimming, a fell rising up from its shore and countryside characters just like Arthur Ransome described them. The estate is on the doorstep of the Lake District but better than that, it is private. Forget the traffic and crowds of Windermere - this is all yours. ... more   less

“We stayed in the frills tents and these were both beautifully located and prvate - I don't think it matters at all which tent you go in, they are all lovely.”

“All tents are in super positions but 3 have slightly newer hot tubs which look nicer but maybe not quite as rustic! All have their own jetty.”
