We had a wonderful 3 night stay with Mike and Pam! They were gracious, funny and lovely! The home is very warm and welcoming as are they. The dogs and sheep greeting you as you come up the driveway were exactly what you would expect in Ireland at a country home. The breakfast that Pam prepares is delicious and plentiful!...

Coolefield House is an amazing and unique B&B experience. We arrived as guests and left feeling like family. We arrived with a large family group, and Pam and Mike Thornton made it their mission to see that we were welcome and comfortable. Mike is an amazing source of advice on activities, restaurants and pubs in the area and beyond, gleaned...

We had a wonderful stay at Michael and Pam's. They are every bit the ideal B&B hosts and we enjoyed a great conversation one night during our stay. Over a night cap of whiskey. The house is so warm and comfortable, very cosy. And the countryside near by is green as can be. Go raibh maith agaibh.

On this our first visit to Ireland my wife and I decided that we would not have enough time to see the whole country and further we did not want to be slaves to doing the usual tour/tourist routines. Our focus became finding a small rural town in southern Ireland, centrally located in an area that we could use as...

My husband and I took an 8 day driving trip around Ireland, and staying at Coolefield House was one of, if not the main, highlight of the trip. Two of the family's three dogs acted as a bounding welcoming committee when we drove up to the house, and the third came out to investigate once we had parked. The house...

On a 14 day B&B trip to the West Coast of Ireland we planned to be at one convenient place for 7 nights to explore all of the South West peninsulas. One of the great advantages of one or two nights at a B&B is that if it's not quite what you expected then your suffering will be temporary. Hoping...

There are a multitude of B & Bs all over Ireland, but Coolefield House stands out as superior in many ways. Its location in County Cork allows easy access to many of the most scenic and popular destinations in Ireland. The house is large and comfortable and has all the modern conveniences without losing any of its charm. It is...

A stunning guesthouse in the most beautiful setting. Michael and Pam went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We had gorgeous home baked afternoon tea on arrival. My 5 year old was very entertained with Pam and Michael's children playing hide and seek, on the trampoline etc! The rooms are decorated to the highest standard, very spacious and...

Coolfield Country House was an ideal jumping off point for our five day visit to West Cork and Kerry. We enjoyed: Spacious ground-floor room, fully wheelchair accessible including bathroom facilities; useful suggestions for places to visit; inspiring and humorous evening conversations around a crackling fire with the whole Thornton family; delicious warm and cold, homemade breakfast. Herbie and Bea, Winterthur,...
