The stay was decent, was here with my partner for some Christmas celebrations. The hotel staff at the reception counter seems a little confused and speaks too softly, I can't hear what they are saying often.

The thing about the room, we noticed that the air conditioner is very hot even after one hour, the room is still warm, and the air conditioner is blowing hot air. The hotel managed this issue swiftly after we called the operator and they sent two technicians to repair it.

In terms of cleanliness, the hotel could do better, we could see some dusty spots in the room and some mouldy spots in the shower. The hotel is nice enough to provide several bath bombs and we even get little Christmas bath bomb souvenirs to bring home.

About the environment and ambience, we understand that it is Christmas night, but we had some noisy neighbours. It is hard to get a good rest with their loud chatting and heavy stomping on the ground.

Generally speaking, this hotel could do better, in terms of service quality and their equipment as well.

This were the things we experienced and observed during our stay which dampened the whole experienced quite significantly. I hope improvements will be made because it would be a waste to have such an amazing premise but not supported by an equally impressive team of people.

Pros:
I was instantly impressed upon arrival at the hotel. Its jazz concept is very well carried through especially at hotel's common grounds. The ID (furnishing and finishing) and piped in music completely filled the air, transporting me to a bygone era.

Room was sizable, as is the bathroom. Bedding was comfortable,AC works well, bathroom is fairly well appointed.
Check in was a breeze and receptions team were always efficient and professional. Friendliness and warmth differs.
In the coffee house, one lady who is behind the eggs counter was very efficient. She seem like the only competent person in the entire place as she manned the eggs, nasi lemak, roti canai altogether.

Cons:
This were the things we experienced and observed during our stay which dampened the whole experienced quite significantly.

- Even though the lounge at level 29 closes at 12am, by 11.45pm while I was still having my drink, the staff turned off the music, indicating it's time to leave. Perhaps because I was the only guest but that shouldn't be the case.

- The coffee house is where most improvements need to be made. The coffee machines were not checked before the start of breakfast and often malfunctioned. On a Friday, there was only 1 floor staff walking around. He cleared some used plates but not the rest. He seemed a little oblivious and not focused. He and others (on other days) walked past the coffee machine and although cups of spoilt coffee were lined on at the counter, none of them attemped to clear it. The cups kept increasing as more and more guests experienced the malfunctioning coffee machine. Breakfast spread could also be improved on by offering some variety from day to day.

- The foreign staff at the were very polite and helpful. The local staff however was not as impressive, friendly to mat sallehs but not to locals (in my experience).

- Housekeeping replenishing was not thorough enough, sometimes forgeting to replace face towel, other days not replenishing drinking water.

- The phone in the room wasn't working. Despite informing front desk, it was never fixed until the day we left.

- The rooftop pool area is not well maintained. Seats were broken and slanting.

Stayed here a couple of times but did not write a review. Rooms were great, there's bathtub in every room, and the bed is very comfortable. But what incited me to write a review here is their Seafood Buffet dinner that I had last weekend with my family. We had a group package of 11 pax at an average price of RM100 per pax only (Group promotion)

However, the seafood buffet spread is ALOT! From squid eggs, to fresh prawns, fresh oysters, scallops, crabs (big crabs with alot of meat!) and even a Mac & Cheese Lobster! I did try several hotel seafood buffet in Penang but gotta say, this is the most reasonable, and under-rated seafood buffet available in the island!

They even serve Char Koay Teow, Chicken Kebab, and many more! And the best part, everything that is served is delicious, fresh, and quality! For RM100 per pax averagely, I don't think I am able to find any seafood buffet with this kind of spread in Penang!

The Jazz Hotel offers a great service. The staff are lovely and very helpful; during check in they take your bags upstairs and are always around to help throughout your stay.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the bathroom has both a large bath and a separate, similarly large shower and the rooftop pool upstairs has an excellent view. There are complimentary restocked drinks in your mini-bar which really help as your acclimate to the temperature.

The morning breakfast was also good - they cook eggs fresh, cater for a range of different cuisines and have a lot to choose from. As far as hotel breakfasts go, it was pleasant.

Overall, would recommend staying there.

The breakfast menu provided was very poor. We were only given à la carte and a limited menu because the hotel prioritized foreign tourist groups who are vegetarian. We respect people’s ways and cultures, but our rights should not be overlooked since this is a paid service.

Returned recently after our 3 night stay in Jazz Hotel.

In my group of 10, we had 5 rooms. My room had no view; no in room slippers provided. Had 2 pieces of folded sarong- one for male and another for female (popular printed batik cloth) inside a neat linen bag but not too fresh scent thus avoided using it.. In other rooms, they had indoor flip flops provided, no sarong and bathrobes in the wardrobe stinky.

Appears that housekeeper did not do a thorough job by checking through items provided and to replace fresh pieces after each guest checkout from rooms.

I have the impression and observed that the hotel uses many inexperienced staff or they are part timers and not well trained. Did not understand much English when spoken to and with wrong response given. Only one particular staff caught our ( 10 of us) full attention. His name is Asyakful (hopefully got it spelled correctly). Most motivated "concierge/ bell boy" with initiatives, who helped to reseal and repacked our improperly packed boxes in a very professional style; spoke fluent English and with smart appearance..

Generally, a rather different kind of hotel/staff interaction experience staying in Jazz which the Management team needs to improve on.. Nothing too unpleasant for us since we were prepared after reading several negative reviews which we chose to ignore.

I have booked for another stay in coming Feb and that will be for 4 nights, long before this recent trip. Hopefully able to witness some improvements.

Jazz Hotel is a nice setup for taking pictures and food served at the cosy Kitano Japanese restaurant is worth trying with pleasant staff.

We took a Junior suit which gives us the room we needed for 2 little boys to run around. We stayed for 4 nights. The toilet is of a reasonable size and the bedroom was also of reasonable size (bigger than your usual room size). But the TV a little bit small for the room as these days, TV size for indiviual homes are getting bigger from 50" and above and my kids complain on the small TV screen. There's a roof top swimming pool. Breakfast had both local & western food. Hotel Service was good.

The facilities at the jazz hotel in Penang were excellent and contributed to a truly enjoyable and relaxing stay. One of the highlights for me was the swimming pool. It was the perfect place to relax and cool off after a day of exploring the city, and the poolside bar served a variety of refreshing drinks and snacks. Other facilities at the hotel including a spa, offering a range of massages and beauty treatments, as well as a fitness center with a range of cardio and weight-training equipment. Only water heater was an issues otherwise overall was okay

From what I remember, the elevator is close to the pool area. You have to open a door to get to pool. I don't think there's a assisted door opener button. From pool level to the gym studio has a step up.
