I spent two nights at one of the cottages in January 2016 with a guide from Harare, Tony Wood. From first sight impressions to the details it was all a wonderful experience. Great cottage, very well appointed, fabulous location, extremely friendly owner and local guide Josh. Superb walks and views, birding out of this world and fine hospitality when we...

We really enjoyed our stay at Mutarazi cottages. The accommodation was excellently furnished and equipped (except for a potato masher! and towels!) and the surrounds were perfect for young children to play. The resort was quiet and the owners were very helpful and accommodating. We will definitely use the facilities again in the near future.

We had a great time in mutarazi cottages for a week. The cottages are so well appointed with everything of high quality. We loved the evening log fires, power shower, huge Victorian bath, romantic master bedroom and sauna. Only two things which I would advise... To supply towels and a small heater for the downstairs bedroom as that one doesn't...

Just next to Far and Wide adventure camp, these luxury cottages are an absolute gem. Wonderful accommodation (about 100 dollar a night for two in a cottage) but (unfortunately) totally self catering. Very relaxing, super clean, great view from the terrace and all is there that one could need (apart from food and drinks). Staying there is highly recommendable, I...

I have used the cottages as a place to stay before hiking the Turaco Trail and for birdwatching trips. They are clean, simple, practical and exactly what we required. On one occasion when we returned from an extremely wet hike, the sauna was a blessing and we managed to finally dry out. The upstairs bathrooms are charming with a free-standing...

Although it is in a wonderful location just a few kilometres from Africa's highest waterfall, the Muturazi Falls, this place lacks one crucial thing. A generator. Our stay was marred by three days of no electricity and continuous rain. Management also made no effort to come down and assist us or check how things were going during this three day...

Wild N, Owner at Mutarazi Cottages, responded to this review

Thank you for your review. Firstly although the Mutarazi Cottages are in a beautiful wilderness area, the Mutarazi Falls are the highest falls in Zimbabwe and only the second (or third, depending on different authorities) highest in Africa. The Tugela Falls are the highest in Africa. The period over which you stayed experienced extreme weather conditions which resulted in a...

“The upstairs room is great but Shepherd lights the fire every night and the pipe from the fire goes through the room and heated it up a bit too much for my liking in summer but Tony wanted heat so we had a fire!”
