Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We have used this hotel many times over the past years, but this visit was the worst of the lot. The outside areas were untidy with rubbish everywhere that nobody could be bothered picking up. Inside our room was no better, with finger marks and sticky substances on the walls and other flat surfaces. In this COVid era I would have thought more efforts would have gone into making sure the safety of guests was at the forefront. The balcony of our unit had screws and nails protruding out of the decking which was dangerous for bare feet. The place was being painted and I would have thought 7:30 am was a bit early for the workers to be starting a cherrypicker and singing outside guest units. Not sure how long it has been like it, but the parking shelter at the back has been badly damaged and a big section cordoned off which has reduced parking bay availability by a lot.

Picked Lodestar for a 2 night stay in Perth as it had a great location, free car parking and their website showed the apartments as modern and 4 star. Reality was far from this. I had a ground floor unit where you could hear the freeway clearly and every car that drove in the unit complex. A couple of the apartment walls seemed to have been recently painted and the kitchen had a fairly new flat pack installed but the remainder was rundown; especially some dumpy saggy furniture and stained carpets that looked 20 years old.

We rented 2 bedrooms apartment for 4 of us. It’s very stuffy when we went in to the property & need to air it. The place is clean, beds are comfortable & good enough for short stay. It’s only has 1 bathroom so sometime it’s a bit inconvenient when 2 people need to use it. Kitchen has limited cookery to make simple meals.
You have to have car to drive around to get food as there at not supermarket or restaurant close by.
The outside appearance is not the same as what was on the photo. It’s more old as lots of chipping wall paints everywhere. The garden side looks the same as in picture.

I absolutely loathe giving a bad review so I normally only ever post good ones but with this one I cannot let it slide. I will start with the positives. > Location is good being a short 10 minute walk to the ferry. > Beautiful walk along the esplanade as well and close to Kings Park. > Mister Walker restaurant is well worth a visit and they have great coffee. > It was great having a good washing machine and dryer. > Towels provided were in good condition and bath towels a good size. Now for the bad. > Shower is disgusting with mould around the all edges. > Mattress stains are disgusting and I like nothing I have ever seen the before. It needs to be burnt. (See photos) > Cleaning is only carried out on the surface as behind the couch, glass doors, windows, door tracks are all filthy. > Kitchen tidy looked like it has never been cleaned on the outside…ever! > Curtains need to be replaced or at the very least dry cleaned. The owner of this unit needs to strip it out and hit it with a high pressure cleaner. We have never stayed in a unit anywhere that we were so disappointed in. They should have paid us to stay there and not the other way around.

My husband, 5 year old and I stayed here recently while visiting a family member in Perth. The grounds are extremely run down. Cigarette butts, dirt, spiderwebs, cracks and peeling paint on the external brickwork. The inside rooms smell musty and the bathroom covered in black mould! We brought the issue up with reception who advised us that housekeeping would come and clean. Obviously you can’t clean years worth of mould build up so we shifted rooms. Apart from less mould the second room was no better. The carpet in both rooms was lifting up from the underlay, walls, doors, floors and furnishings are all very dirty. There was snot on the toilet wall on arrival. Dishes all need cleaning before use as they were dirty. The complex is mixed use so there Are certainly some interesting characters in the building! Don’t expect your room to be cleaned either! They should use the term “serviced” very loosely as rooms aren’t cleaned on weekends or public holidays! The pictures have clearly been photoshopped to make the apartment appear much nicer than it is. My advice, check the travellers pictures and read reviews before you book. I wish I did!! We ended up leaving a night early because we got sick.

Lodestar Waterside Apartments have recently taken over this property and we have worked hard over the months to deliver a better experience for all our guests and it is apparent in this case we have fallen short. Our apartments are fully self-contained with scheduled servicing, this excludes weekends and long stay reservations. You will find most serviced apartments with a similar arrangement. Extra supplements are always available at reception if required. On day 2 of your stay with us, it was reported to reception regarding the dissatisfaction. We had housekeeping attend the room promptly, a room move was offered. This room was inspected by yourself prior to moving and you happily accepted the room. I booked this hotel from one Saturday night for $193 as we were departing from the Swan River. Our room was very clean and well appointed and spacious enough. You could see the river although the freeway was in between the view but we knew that. Reception was efficient and knowledgeable. Parking was a bit of an issue. Very very small access and car park spots so bear that in mind if you have a larger vehicle. The rear carport is still damaged and taped off. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. It has everything you need for a longer stay as well. The carpet does need restretching however the room was clean enough. The best thing was the lack of freeway noise. Yeah, we would probably stay again. Decent for the price as long as you aren't expecting a 5 star hotel.

One of the best whilst looking for decent price accommodation in Perth. Clean comfortable apartments with easy access to freeways and a variety of shops nearby. Perfect for a family stay as rooms are self contained with a complete kitchen and laundry facilities.

We stayed here four two weeks, excellent service by excellent staff, good rooms full kitchen.
nice location near south perth foreshore just 5 minutes walk, also 24/7 grocery nearby .
Lodestar also has laundy in the room, so very happy overall

I do not recommend this at all! We had an apartment which was really filthy and looked like it had not been cleaned at all. Blood in the freezer, dirty cupboards and mirrors as well as items left on the shower floor. The freeway is right there so very noisy. The reception is totally uncontactable. We called 3 times and emailed twice over the space of a day with no response at all. We even cut our day short to get to the reception by 3:30 and no one was there. No answer on emergency number. Way overpriced for the standard. Don’t go there.

No there was only an AC in the living room. There was a KS bed in the living room and I slept there. The AC did cool the main bedroom a little with the windows shut. Our temps only got to about 20-24 overnight so this was just doable.
