I stayed for one night as I was attending a friends birthday locally.
At £130 for a small double room on a B&B basis I had reasonable expectations for the accommodation and breakfast.
The welcome was OK but a little cold. The room was clean...More
Party of four went for a pub lunch. Food better suited to town centre micro wave outfit than what on first appearances appeared to be a top class gastro place. Homemade fish pie was full of tasteless liquid. Ham with the ham and eggs again...More
We had lunch here on Sunday and decided to try something other than our usual roast. I had rib eye steak which was possibly the worst ever. It was extremely thin and lacked any flavour - tasted like it had been bought from a cut...More

Our room was on the ground floor and I believe would be accessible for wheelchair users albeit you have to go through a couple of doorways to get to it. I think once you were in the room actually manoeuvring into the bathroom may be a little tricky. The function room where the function we attended was held was on the ground floor. Breakfast, however, may be a little more challenging. From memory I believe we had to go down a couple of steps into the room where it was served - I believe this doubles as the restaurant in the evenings. Not sure if they offer room service breakfasts.

On the night , it was difficult to get a response from Reception. The Manager does not work at the weekend. I wrote to him immediately, when he did not reply, I telephoned and was told the Manager had problems and had been away......My next contact by e.mail......he replied that he was awaiting the laundry report. I asked if that included the soiled/disgusting mattresses. He did not reply. He has subsequently ignored all my contacts.... He hopes that I will go away......I contacted environmental health yesterday !!!!!!! The blood was fresh and unwashed, the mattresses were awful......we could have caught HIV.....Hepatitis.....or anything. But ......if the problem is not rectified other people could be sleeping in those beds!!!!! I hope this helps......there must be other hotels in the area !!!!!!!
