We stayed here in June 2022.

The house is beautiful, with a stunning outdoor area and pool (which we were able to use when we wished). For breakfast, Yolande prepared for us the most beautiful breakfast each morning. It was a very special experience. We had to leave early on our last morning yet she made sure to prepare some food that we could have before we left.

Yolande could not do more to help us. She gave us lots of advice around where to go in Bordeaux, how to use the public transport, and even called to reserve some restaurants for us.

To get into Bordeaux, the bus stop is a couple of minutes away and it’s only a few stops to get into the city - so an ideal location.

Thank you Yolande, and we really hope to visit again!

You know why the property has excellent reviews when you meet Yolande, she is a really friendly and attentive host.
The house is beautiful, this was not a summer holiday stay but I guess it must be stunning in the sunshine.
Superb breakfast, very comfy bedroom and top quality accommodation. There is plenty of spaces to park, great restaurants less than 10 minutes walk and you are far away from the busy city centre which can very easily be accessed by public transports. I would highly recommend and hope to be back when I am next in Bordeaux.

Yolande was a fantastic host and the amenities and cleanliness were fantastic.
One of our best overnighting experiences in France ever!

We stayed for 4 nights and wanted to stay for another 4 it was so good! Yolande was great with restaurant recommendations and booked us a fantastic place (Memestre) for the Monday when we arrived. She always had great tips and was so pleasant.

A good french style continental breakfast with some great cheese!

La Ferrade was a great place to relax before or after a big day visiting central Bordeaux or driving to some of the surrounding areas. The location was easy to drive to from the airport.

Although the property is a little walk from the bus stops (7-8 mins), after 1 day it was easy to get around.

I needed my suit dry cleaned for a wedding and Yolande recommended a place nearby which was great and even sent a reminder email on the day of check out.

Best service ever!

We hope to come back and stay in the future and see more of Bordeaux and surrounding areas.

Merci beaucoup

We stayed this July at La Ferrade for 4 days. It is well located near Bordeaux centre (with some effort you can walk down to the city centre, or the TGV train station), and has public transport around the corner. The rooms are ok in size and equipment, but they do lack airconditioning which meant that during the time we were there, our room on the first floor stayed pretty warm througout the night. Normally, I'd give this B&B 4* except for a single (important) thing: We didn't really feel at home. The pool was closed from 12 - 5 pm, and pretty much all the other 'rules' like no eating in the room (understand that) or out on the terras (don't understand that) required you to be gone from the place from 11:30 till evening (including dinner - which was not one of the options). Although not really a problem for me or my wife, but we travelled with two grown girls, which means that there are days you stay in for a swim and go out later. This was seen as difficult and we were expected not to be there. For me this was a surprise - I can check into a hotel for similar prices and do whatever I want - but that's a hotel, no soul and no personal contact. From a B&B we expected that feeling of being at home ... but that definitely wasn't the case here.

Thank you for your comments of which I take good notice. Your room can be kept reasonably cool upstairs (with an exceptional outside temperature of 34-36°C) if you keep the shaders and windows closed when the sun hits them. I probably will post an advice in the room now). The house is not AC, it is a choice of ours to help protect the planet and the thermal insulation in place is also completely natural and very efficient...it keeps the temperature of the room... I remember you telling me that this was your first experience in a "chambre d'hôtes". As you write, this is not a hotel but a place where the owner also lives and this explains why certain courtesy rules need to be followed i.e no pool around the clock and no in room or garden picnic. With two young girls and no car to reach the beach or tour the wineries, it was probably difficult for you and too bad to stay 4 days in Bordeaux with this temperature. To close, the house and the rooms are cleaned every day, and it is the first time I have a remark on this point. Same for the beds, which are brand new and usually marked 'excellent'. Kind regards Yolande

We only stayed for two nights, and wish that we could have stayed longer. Yolande made us very welcome, the breakfasts were delightful and the whole experience was superb. We will certainly stay again if and when we return to Bordeaux.

My husband and I recently stayed here on our first trip to Bordeaux to celebrate my husbands birthday. We had a wonderful time and this was due to the warm welcome we received from Yolande who booked restaurants for us, supplied travel timetables and even baked a birthday cake! The house is amazing we will be back !

We stayed 3 nights at La Ferrade with the 2 rooms downstairs , the rooms are cozy and clean and the Breakfast is really good but there are things that made us feel uncomfortable I understand not eating at the room perfectly well but at the patio and garden and the pool where they have a table and they are eating also ?! We didn’t know this rules and since we didn’t have a car and were traveling with young kids we brought some baguettes with us and after eating the husband of Yolande told us it was absolutely prohibited to eat outside but they were having dinner outside ?.. I know they are the owners but in all the B&B I have stayed they always have a terrace or a patio or something you can have something to eat or a coffe etc. Plus there is nothing around where to have dinner just like 3 restaurants . Also I Asked Yolande several times even before arrival if she could help me out with organizing a tour to St Emilion and amazingly at the end she told me to go to the tourist office in Bordesux ! So imagine without a car we had to walk and take a bus for 15 minutes - ; she never asked again if Insorted out my tour or how it went . our biggest disappointment was that the taxi to take us to the airport really early in the morning charged us 72 euros so I wrote to her just to see if this price could be possible so she could check it out , and her answer was it was not her fault!! which of course I never said that . So no I would never go back . She had nice details like preparing us breakfast to go the day we left Or inviting us a glass of wine but also things that I already wrote plus imagine in the summer when it’s super hot and the sun is out at 8 :00 pm my little nephew got back really happy to jump into the pool and already with her bathing suit on Yolande told my sister she wanted to go to sleep and closed the pool !So we were stuck in the room at 8:30;pm with 2 kids doing nothing .I travel a lot in Europe and always like staying in B&B bit this one has way to many rules .

Dear Claudia, thanks for your time in writing this long advice. Very well noted. I read your frustration and feel very sorry about it. I try to satisfy my guests' needs in the best possible way. Yes indeed, we have some rules but not that many... and these rules are written black and white on our website you visited before booking as well as in the room: Pool: we do have opening hours (8:00 am - 1 pm / 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm) although some tolerance sure exists...but sorry not at 10:00 pm once it is already covered, as in any hotel or location offering such a facility. Everyone needs quietness, guests as well as...owners and the neighborhood! Meals: La Ferrade is a B&B, so we do the utmost to propose a nice homemade Breakfast. But we do not accommodate dinners or picnics. Try to imagine what it would be if every guest was bringing their picnic along? As you broke the rule, we kindly reminded it after your meal and not without having offered you a glass of wine, as mentioned. Tours and visits: I spend hours with my guests to satisfy everyone (tours, visits, winemakers, restaurants, and all sort of suggestions) and quite frankly do not understand your point as I had already replied to this question in a previous email (please check 14/05/18). Visiting Bordeaux region with 2 young children without a car leaves no other choice but the train or a Tour-bus and this one is organized by and located in front of the Tourism Office, yes 20 minutes to reach it from home (bus, bike, tram) which to me does not appear as "faraway". Taxi: you left home at 4:30 am to get to the airport and I had arranged a taxi, as requested (as well as a breakfast box for the 4 of you). At such a time, there are a limited number of cars and they can already have some 10/15 € on the taxi meter when they pick you up. Then they apply a night fare. Once again, I feel very sorry about your disapointment. I hope you were satisfied with the rest of your tour and had a safe trip back home.

Everything about communicating with our hosts was delightful. Welcome was warm and room was lovely. Yolande spent a lot of time figuring out how we could see a little of Bordeaux and even brought our luggage to meet us at the train after a morning of sightseeing. What an angel!

My friends and I had a terrific experience at La Ferrade. You couldn't ask for better hosts than Yolande and Benoit. They are helpful, warm, and they keep the B&B in the best state. La Ferrade is not in central Bordeaux, but it is very easy to get to all the sights whether by a healthy walk, a short bus ride, or by car. We liked that we were not central because it made for a much quieter stay. The rooms are comfortable and very clean, with especially nice shower and bathroom facilities. The breakfast spread that Yolande puts out is lovely and ample. It is too bad that the pool is closed during the warmest part of the day, but it also encourages you to get out and see the lovely sights of the city and surrounding area. I highly recommend La Ferrade.
