Dr Holms has a long history as a fashionable "snob" hotel in the area. The styling is a tad "over the top" classical for my own personal taste, bordering on McMansion as a first impression. But the place has historical roots to "defend" it, and some of the buildings are actually quite old, so at the end it is all...

This is by far the worst hotel ever. The hotel is for local rules only. We were a group of cross country skiers going in the mountains(starting from Finse) for 3 days. Ending our journey here. We where not allowd to order beers due to the managers orders (not allowed to weare ski clothes) There was no one who could...

There is no doubt that Dr. Holms was so fashionable and luxurious in its heyday as it appears when you see the magnificent building on top of the hill. But it was unfortunately in the past. A lot of things has changed, faded and seems slightly worn these days. This is an old hotel, and there is no doubt that...

Ive stayed at Dr Holmes many times but not recently. It looks the same. Slightly faded grandeur. Maybe a little more faded than I remembered but still grand. On arrival we were early - in Geilo one arrives with the trains. Our room wasn't ready. We waited. 2 hours later it was ready but it was a twin not the...

Stayed here two nights. Dr. Holms look like a building from a fairytale. Grand. Inside tho, not so much. Some of the furniture was in a shabby condition, not to mention the rooms. I believe we had one of the rooms that hasn't been upgraded. It smelled old, of cigarettes and was very shabby. I would suggest that they keep...

Terrible service, Caroline in reception was awful, no demands for room met, overpriced. New owners line their pockets, not caring about guests. Staff and services cut. It is all about the profit, this is wellknown in the region. Dated Worn Tired Bare basic bathrooms Terrible insulation 3.5 green dots on Tripadvisor says a lot, it really should be lower. For...

This fabulous historic mountain hotel patronised by royalty and celebrities ranks equal with hotel Continental in Oslo, Grand Hotel in Stockholm and Lund and d'Angleterre in Copenhagen, which are the only hotels in Scandinavia I have rated 5 stars. The ambience is unequalled, the food superb and the relatively new wellness department with two pools, indoor and outdoor jacuzzi, steam...

Just came home from a 4 nights stay at Dr. Holm together with my family in law and what a disappointment. The hotel did not live up to our expectations for several reasons: 1. The rooms are extremely worn and are in serious need of a refurbishment. The carpets were dirty (I found crisps under the bed from a previous...

We have just returned from a week's half board with Crystal at Dr Holmes Hotel in Geilo. I have to admit to a certain amount of trepidation having read some of the reviews but we'd rather stay somewhere with a bit of character so we went ahead and booked the hotel anyway. We found the hotel staff very friendly and...

From the name of the hotel and the outside look I thought this is the perfect place to stay for my birthday. What a disappointment. Ever since the hotel had opened in 1906 the have done nothing but added several layers of paint to the rooms. The furnishing is tasteless and worn down. In my first room, I had three...
