The Torrance Hotel is located in East Kilbride, near Glasgow. This historic building has always been the hub of the local community. It was built in 1773 as a cotton-spinning mill incorporating workers’ houses, by General Stuart of Torrance. The building has had many uses from a school, shop and coaching inn, and you’ll still find many of the building’s original charm and features. Today the hotel is still the hub of the local community and it is a busy thriving hotel which is popular with locals. Visitors can enjoy a relaxed and welcoming restaurant, and an open, airy conservatory which can accommodate fine dining, private parties or intimate get-togethers. A beer garden offers flat screen televisions and is a perfect spot to watch all the big sports events with a collection of friends. The hotel has 17 comfortable rooms and a beautiful honeymoon suite which has its own spa complete with sunken bath. The train station is a 5 minute walk and a train will take you into the heart of Glasgow.

I had booked the Stuart suite for a special occasion, couldn’t have been anymore pleased with the experience overall. On arrival the receptionist was very pleasant and helpful explaining new procedures due to covid etc. The hotel itself is lovely and has a welcoming atmosphere. Upon entering the room it was very impressive! The upstairs jacuzzi bath and sauna were great loved the fact it has a tv upstairs at the jacuzzi so you can play music or watch something. The room was absolutely spotless which I was worried about especially during these difficult times with covid 19 anxieties but everything was spotless which put both our minds at ease. Very spacious room filled with all essential items, i was pleased that there was lots of towels in both upstairs and downstairs as you go through a lot of towels when using the jacuzzi bath/sauna. The bed was so comfortable we had a great nights sleep.

We booked a meal downstairs in the restaurant which was delicious. There was a great selection of cocktails and very speedy service. The next morning we had the free breakfast which comes with booking the room, again a great selection of food (I recommend the eggs benedict).

Staff were very helpful as we needed batteries and ice and they brought this to the room within minutes of the request. The only downside is that the WiFi connection upstairs isn’t great and I had to keep coming downstairs to use my phone.

Overall this was a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a luxury night away.

Spent 4 nights here and found it to be pretty average. Bedroom lighting is extremely dull and there are no drawers for storage. Shower room although nicely decorated also has no storage space. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice. Staff were very friendly, but not impressed with having to listen to them gathering and chatting about personal issues whilst having breakfast. Also think the breakfast waitress should be more appropriately dressed with a longer skirt, desperately short and not very professional attire.was also not impressed when sitting in fire area in the bar having to listen to foul language coming from the kitchen on two occasions.soundproofing between bedrooms is poor and didn't sleep well due to television, chatting and snoring from residents in next room. Not a hotel I would recommend for the price.

The room was fantastic and it's amenities however we where disappointed with the steam room or lack of as it didn't work. We had someone from reception come up to fix our heating who was very nice but I mentioned the steam room and it got overlooked as nothing was said,on checking out we where asked if everything was ok and I told them about the steam room not working to which I was told oh we have been having problems with it as it keeps tripping and not working properly but il let our manager know.I feel this should have been rectified and checked before we checked in given its an ongoing problem and its also a unique selling point for the room so can't help feel a little let down there.
The candles around the bath are battery operated but none of them worked as the batteries had ran out so didnt have the ambience it should have had I didnt call for replacements as I was just about to switch on when in the bath so really wasn't the time again something which is basic and should be checked before checkin.
We had a meal in the restaurant I ordered a burger which came out pink in the middle so would be medium/rare but nobody had asked how I would like it done usually standard is to cook it so no pink shows unless stated. I had to send it back the lovely waitress kept apologising as there was a wait and my husband had finished his meal by time I got mine by then I'd lost my appetite.
Breakfast was lovely and very well made.
Overall I think the stay would have been fantastic if it hadn't been for the things mentioned above. I feel for the money paid we should have had these things rectified and not just an a part apology from the lovely receptionist who seemed a bit embarrassed at the end of our stay steam room needs to be fixed as you cant sell something that doesn't work

We booked the honey moon suite for a luxury relaxing night away. After having our new house condemned, builders in for 3 months and ill health this was exactly when we needed. The room itself was absolutely stunning but we were woken around 3am with noises from upstairs in the bathroom. On inspection it was radiators. Got back to sleep and then was awoken at 5.15am by loud banging. Sounded as if something was getting fixed. Unfortunately this time we did not manage to get back to sleep due to noise levels continuing. Music was playing, I am sure it was from the function room which was very close to us. Then the head cleaner was rushing around the corridors, banging doors and shouting about needing to clean toilets and findng something from cages! I approached this lady at 6.30 as by this time I was fed up with the lack of sleep. I got a quick sorry before she scurried away. The noise levels did not get any better after this. I recorded the noise levels and I am glad I did. I complained when checking out and was told to write it in an email, I emailed my complaint and was told the head house keeper had already told them about waking me up at 7.15! Obviously this was not the case. I was also told the noise must have been guests as no staff was in til 6.30. The doors apparently can’t slam shut due to them being self closing doors. I sent a video in to prove the head cleaning lady was clearly not accurate about her times and to prove doors were slamming. I was promised a small refund as I would not accept a voucher to return. A week later and I have received nothing. For this room to be priced at £400 and to have been woken for hours with high noise levels is disgraceful. I felt as if I wasn’t believed and that is why I sent video proof. What ever happened to the customer is always right? We left more tired and stressed than when we arrived 😔

This may take longer than usually due to government restricitions which caused us to have to cancel many events and issue refunds to a great deal of bookings. We booked a table for 16 for lunch, the service was ridiculous, literally having to beg for service to get a drink, the food service was so slow. Staff are poorly trained on how to service large groups. It’s the second time my family have met there and we had the same problem before. We won’t be back.

I booked the Torrance Hotel for my husband's wake for 40 people and selected package 2 which was £13.50 per head plus soup which was £2.50 extra. There was 4 tables of 10, each table had 2 measly plates of cheap white thin bread sandwiches, the fillings (what there was of them) could only be identified by pulling them apart. 3 scones, 2 muffins and 5 ting squares of cake per plate. The soup wouldn't have fed a child and the coffee top up consisted of the trains being poured into my sister's cup. The service was dreadful, we had to wait an hour before the tea and coffee was served. I wish I had done my homework before I had booked it. Some people had travelled from Kent for this funeral and I was embarrassed at the poor quality of the food and service my family and friends received after a very dignified funeral. I would not recommend anyone suffering the same poor quality of fare or embarrassment that I did.

Booked an overnight stay in the Stuart Suite which looked and sounded amazing. Unfortunately we were really disappointed. The room was dark, dull and cold. Only one of the two radiators were working. Downstairs there was a coffee machine and a note about complimentary snacks upstairs as well as cocktails in the mini bar. There was only one chair to sit on. Upstairs was a good sized TV jaccuzi bath and the shower and steam area. The snacks were not free as they were on the price list at the mini bar. The bathtub did not empty and the steam area did not work either. The snuggle seat was not comfortable at all. The tiling on the floor was pretty dirty and actually needs replacing . Would not recommend walking barefoot on the tiles at all! My sleep was disturbed a few times due to the double doors rattling. We awoke the next day to go for breakfast. This was booked for 8a.m . Our table was not ready and we had to wait for a waiter to set one for us. My fiance ordered a cooked breakfast which looked like it had been under a headlamp for ages. The tea was cool. I feel the money they are charging for an overnight is really over the top. Incidentally we ate out for our dinner....The a la carte menu was hardly anything like a la carte.

Hi Pamela, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.I'm sorry you felt the room dark and cold, the thermostat is at your control to have the room as warm or cold as you would like. The snacks are all free, you would not have been charged for any of these , we will change signage to ensure this is clearer. I do apologise again for the hot tub plug not working properly, I hope you enjoyed the complimentary bottle of prosecco as way of an apology, the issue has now been fixed. The tiles on the floor are spotless, the flooring is only 3 weeks old and the design is to look rustic, so please let me reassure you it was not dirty at all. I take on board all issues you have raised around breakfast and will ensure these do not happpen again, Kind regards, Lara Brown.

Stayed for a short break over Christmas while visiting family in East Kilbride. Was given a room far from the public areas of the hotel and so avoided any overspill noise rom Christmas parties, busy bar etc. We only took breakfast in the hotel as we were spending the days with family. Service at breakfast was a bit unpredictable but the food, when it came, was well cooked and fresh. No complaints at all when considering COVID and Christmas pressures the staff were under. Would not hesitate to return.

Stayed at this hotel for our wedding anniversary and had the best time. All staff were so nice, friendly and very helpful making us feel very welcome especially Nicola on reception.
We booked the afternoon tea which was absolutely delicious and great service from serving staff, we then made our way to our room(which was lovely)and found a lovely Happy Anniversary platter with chocolates(lovely touch)
We also had dinner booked, which again was lovely with great service, we were supposed to be in the Conservatory however it was busy and noisy so the waiting staff kindly found us an alternate table in the restaurant as this was quieter which was much appreciated
Breakfast in our room the next day was delicious
Would highly recommend this hotel for the food, the rooms and the lovely staff

I really don't like leaving negative reviews but our one night stay at the Torrance Hotel has led me to write this. Our personal experience was as follows:
The Torrance looked a very well designed hotel but.....
The room we booked was small and there was no room to put anything down or hang any clothes up.
The bathroom basin plug did not close and so the result was that the adjoining room to ours was unlocked and we used that wash basin when needed.
The cover for the shower outlet came away when the shower was used.
The lighting was dreadful, no shaving mirror, and also the light over the main mirror meant that my husband couldn't see adequately to shave.
The continental breakfast was sparce. There was fresh fruit but no plain yoghurt, and the only cereals on offer were of the highly sweet and sugary variety.
No butter, only margarine on the table, when I asked for butter I was informed that there wasn't any.

I did order scrambled eggs and this was very good, I tried not to think about it being made with margarine!

The staff were so helpful and obliging they couldn't be faulted but I would never stay at a Torrance Hotel again.
