Let's face it... BI is a very expensive place to visit, especially in the high summer season. If you don't want to spend a grand on lodging for long weekend, the New Shoreham House is a good option. Yes, it is very basic, but most inns on Block Island are. At least the price of the New Shoreham House reflects...

My grandmother and I visited BI September 24th-26th. Our stay at the New Shoreham House was all he hoped for clean, safe, welcoming!! Our room 17PB was adorable, super comfy bed, private bath, and plenty of space ! Our only complain (which isn't even worth complaining about ) is that there were no hooks in the bathroom to hang your...

Although I have always lived in CT, I had never been to BI - and it appealed to me since it sounded more low key than MV or Nantucket. New Shoreham House is convenient to ferry & the midweek deal was perfect as I traveled alone for 3 day getaway prior to 7/4 crowds & humidity. Since couldn't find 1...

Just got back from BI with my sister and our 2 adult daughters. We stayed in Room 1, which has 2 (very comfortable) double beds, and is one of 2 rooms with a private bathroom (Room 17 is the other one). it's a basic, simple room - not a lot of floor space, but it was clean and breezy with...

New Shoreham House Inn is definitely a cut-rate accommodation. However, the price is right. You are getting a decent bed, a clean property, a door that locks, and a bathroom on the hall for a third of the price of the other town hotels. You won't be in the room very much, as Block Island is amazing! Be sure to...

The New Shoreham house is much improved since my last visit in 2012. The interior is new and tasteful. You feel like you have stepped back into the Victorian era in this hotel. Televisions have been added to all rooms and the location, price, and service is excellent. My place of choice for when I want to visit BI for...

Everyone I encountered who worked and lived on Block Island were warm, welcoming and very appreciative of my visit and responsive to my questions. My luggage was carried and I was escorted to my room as if I were the only person they ever served! All things were done with complete honor and dignity! I posted pics on Facebook and...

We stayed in the only room with a private bath. We were very happy. The room decor was tasteful. Although there was no air conditioner, the room was quite comfortable. Some might think the location great. But we would have preferred to be a little off the beaten path. Lots of noise. But either way it was quite comfortable.

We stayed in 14B for the privacy of a room with a bathroom - since we were going for one night how bad could it be? The room was clean and two fans were going to provide cooling. The staff was amazing and we could not believe food and accommodations that the sister hotel provided for us. Baggage check was...

I took the risk (2013/14 reviews were horrifying) booking a room at The New Shoreham House, and I am glad I did!!! I stayed in two different rooms (Room 8 & 14) on the third floor. Rooms are advertised as "basic hostel style" but any person ever staying at a hostel wouldn't agree. Rooms were clean and neat. Room 8...
