My husband and I stayed here over the weekend for my birthday and we will go back. If you want a relaxing, romantic break or just get away from the hustle and bustle of life, this is the hotel for you. The food in the restaurant was really outstanding. We went for the 4 course surprise menu and OMG was it amazing. Adding to the quality of the food was the ambiance of watching the sun set over the mountains. The waitress was attentive, polite and extremely friendly which just completed the whole fine dining experience. Hugo, the owner could not do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble. The quality of breakfast was the same and again you could have as little or much as you wanted. We had the standard room which was very clean, nicely furnished and extremely spacious. The views from the large balcony were amazing. The bed is super comfortable with extra pillows available if needed.

This place takes your breath when you enter the restaurant, a place with tasty decorations and a spectacular view over the lake of Constance and into the Swiss Alps. What a sight. Let the Chef recommend you the plates of the day, any dish is a gourmet experience.

The hotel is perched high above Bregenz in a little village that boasts a fine baroque church. Our spacious room had a balcony with views of the surrounding hills, Lake Constance and the Rhine delta. The furnishings and decoration were very attractive and comfortable and the free wifi worked well. There was ample seating and space for our belongings. The copious breakfasts were taken in the panoramic restaurant and consisted of a big plateful of charcuterie and cheese with assorted breads, little cakes, jam etc. and of course fruit juice and coffee or tea. We dined in the hotel a couple of times and found the food very good though rather expensive. There are many marked hiking trails from the village.

Great location up on a mountain. Awesome view of mountains and plain below from the room. Restaurant: We went for the 6-course surprise menu for 68 Euro each (drinks not included): 1: Carpaccio beef with sliced parmesan, and mozzarella on a mango slice. Excellent pairing of cheese. 2: Celery soup with small balls (1 each) of cantaloupe and pineapple with some potpourri on top. Decent serving size. 3. Main course: Small piece (3" square) of fish with small serving of risotto and 2 white asparagus. Asparagus was stringy and bitter. 4. Very small scoop of sorbet: She had Mango and I had lemon. 5. What was expected: Small, thick steak (beef filet). Was cooked barely medium (red, raw inside). They should've asked how we liked it before bringing it. Cooked to medium-well, and still tender (cut with a butter knife) and delicious. Sides were some linguini noodles and some fresh vegetables. 6. Dessert: Small servings of Crème Brûlée, berry salad (strawberry, blueberry, Johanisber), and strawberry sorbet. (We saw as we were leaving that others also had chocolate mousse with the same plate. Disappointing...) Service was ok. Nothing fantastic. Our waitress might have been one of the owners, but she couldn't tell me where the wine came from. Limited wine selection: only dry. Problems with their credit card machine. Had problems with it again in the morning. Hotel: Great location up on a mountain. Awesome view of mountains and plain below from the room. Soft bed. Better than a typical hard bed, but not as a good as a good memory foam bed. Horrible bathroom: Small & cramped. Exhaust fan didn't work. Small divider for the shower is completely ineffective with the shower head in the middle of the length. Water got everywhere. Ceiling had a lot of rust spots of nails painted-over. Tub drains incredibly slow, so you shower in a tub full of water and soap. Breakfast: No choice for seating. Had us next to the road with no view. Area with the best views was off-limits for unexplained reasons. Huge disappointment! Typical selection of cold meats and cheeses made for you on a plate. Some were good quality. Shudder to think what they do with the raw cuts we didn't eat. Had boxes of a wide selection of tea, but they didn't ask me which one I wanted. All were old anyway. Took forever to steep to any decent darkness. Coffee was in a tiny thing; only enough for 1 small teacup. No fresh milk for coffee or tea. Had to ask for it. Variety of breads in a basket. Orange juice must be a valuable commodity here. Only 1 small glass of juice each, and it wasn't fresh. Eggs cooked to order, but very small serving (2 eggs). Had to ask for a second order. Packets of jams of 3 choices. Nothing fresh.

You will get a spacious room with a large corner sofa, no need to sit in the bed in the afternoon! The hotel is in a small village in the countryside with only 20min to Bregenz and Bodensee. We had a gorgeous view over the valley, flavored with the sound of cowbells. Other reviews mention weak wi-fi, we had good reception. The staff are all really kind and helpful. Our host took a lot of time to show us how to buy the fantastic wine we had for dinner. The restaurant is in a league of its own. Do not leave the hotel for dinner - book a table at Traube and experience something special. Not exactly cheap, but worth every euro cent.
