Good hotel located in the centre of Noordwijk close to the beach and to the pedestrian zone. The rooms on 2nd floor are comfortable and well designed, only the bright carpet has some unavoidable stains. Breakfast was provided in a meeting room, which was okay, but of cause not stylish. We used the gym which was cross the parking garage and had to be opened by a hotel clerk. Major disappointment was the bar. The stuff which was permanently overstrained and unorganised, it took always a while to be recognised and in our last day we even left after 30 minutes without being served. This should be mich better. However, good location for a short trip.
A well maintained hotel with all facilities you need, perfectly located in Noordwijk. The premium rooms are large and cosy, the standard rooms in the lower part still very good for the price. There is no much alternatrive similar in value in Noordwijk.
If you only need a nice room without a restaurant and are finally satisfied with the fact that the reserved and confirmed hotel room was rejected at short notice, then this is the right hotel for you. I booked the autumn package for a week at the hotel months before I arrived. This includes a hotel room, breakfast and dinner. A week before my arrival, the hotel informed me that I could only stay five of the seven days in the hotel. There was no room for me for the remaining two nights because the hotel was accidentally overbooked. In other words, the hotel put me up at their house from Sunday to Tuesday and in a replacement hotel about 15 kilometers from the beach at highway from Tuesday to Thursday. That's not how I imagined a week's beach vacation - busy moving in and out of a hotel room. After I did not agree with this solution, the hotel made a room reservation for two nights for me in the close Hotel Alexander and offered to bear the costs. Hotel Alexander is a very nice and clean hotel, with good service, a great restaurant and very friendly staff. The biggest disaster at Hotel Van der Valk Noordwijk was the restaurant. I booked dinner at the hotel for a week and there were only three meals on the menu for the whole week. So same food every day, which isn’t acceptable for a four star hotel! In addition I have to mention, that it was very cold in the restaurant and we were given a small through table, although all other tables were free. At 8 p.m. the staff set the table for breakfast the next morning. We couldn't sit at another table because the tablecloth was still dirty and They said, they had to change it first. On one evening we appeared to be the only guests booked for dinner at the hotel and so the restaurant was not open and we were asked to be seated to eat in the bar. Very unpleasant, because we were looking forward to an atmospheric dinner in peace. Instead, we had to yell at each other over loud music, conversations, and the TV set on to understand each other. After the three meals had repeatedly failed to appeal to me, I asked if I could also order from the menu. I also informed that I am willing to pay the difference. This pushed the staff to their limits, they discussed… After a certain time the waiter came back and informed that it was possible to order a burger. Which I did and asked for it to be cooked well done. When I got it, I realized that the burger was medium rare and not as requested. I complained about the food and the burger went back to the kitchen. Instead of making a new burger for me, they just warmed the previous on up and it came back to my table in the same old burger bun. I was so disgusted that I wasn’t hungry anymore, so I asked for the bill to pay for my drinks. The bill came and the burger was also charged in full. When I asked, I was told that if you order something outside of the meal plan, you don't just have to pay for the difference, but for the whole meal. To that time I thought I was participating on a prank tv-show.I mean, this wasn’t a youth hostel here but a four-star hotel. Apart from the fact that I as a customer have to be informed when ordering, otherwise there are hidden and non-transparent costs. I then went to the front desk to complain and speak to someone in charge. At the reception I was informed that the problem with the food and burgers arose in the restaurant and therefore the problem could not be solved at the reception. I should contact the colleagues of the restaurant again. The next day I complained to reception about the situation again and I have to say that the lady was more than embarrassed and uncomfortable with the behavior of her colleagues. She reimbursed me for the costs and apologized several times. I also noticed that sausage, cheese and fish were a bit tarnished at the breakfast buffet. This is ultimately due to the fact that they don’t use refrigerated counters, crushed ice or cold packs for this purpose. On two evenings we were served dessert as starter, thinking we had already eaten our main dish. This could also be observed at other tables in the restaurant and therefore didn’t just happen to me. The hotel and the rooms are really very nice. The floor ladies are absolutely helpful, caring and very nice. The rooms are very clean and tidy like the whole hotel. The ladies at the front desk, with one exception in the evening, are very friendly, courteous and dedicated. The restaurant is the biggest catastrophe and so we didn’t have the paid dinner and went out to other restaurantes. I have stayed at Hotel Van der Valk Noordwijk for the third time in the last year and a half. Having had so much trouble during my last stay, I will choose another hotel in the future. There is a choice, so as a customer you don't have to and shouldn't put up with everything. I cannot change your business philosophy or behavior of staff, but I will not support such misconduct with further bookings. The management of the hotel has not reacted to my displeasure and my complaint to this day. This reveals a weak point in the hotel chain, which then spreads to many other areas. A deficit in management also has an impact on all other areas. …
Most relaxing stay in an environment that combined restful sleeps and great breakfasts. Was particularly surprised by the free access to an excellent gym. Totally enjoyed concluding my days in a very cozy lounge.
It was a real pleasure, outstanding serice quality. Rooms was big and clean, breakfast with indiviual service, menu. Location one of the best in Noordwijk aan Zee. Staff Always helpful, eager top Help whenever needed.2 Thumbs up!!
I was there with my colleagues for a conference in July; being closed in the meeting room for two days, I could not enjoy the hotel that much, however, I saw enough to have some impressions. I got a premium room at the top floor; the room, was spacious, but a bit odd in its configuration. There was an ample area, a sort of sitting room with a sofa and a quite comfy desk, where I was able to work after dinner. In front of the bed, there is a cabinet with a hidden tv that can rise pushing a button. To be honest, I did not test it, since I did not have the time and the desire to do it. The bathroom and the toilette were in two separate spaces, which is ok; however, the bath is quite old fashioned and a modern restyling would not be too bad. The negative of this hotel was definitively the meeting room, where we had a 40" screen to show the various presentations, which was very small given the room size; the chairs and the tables were also not very comfy. The coffee was terrible, at the verge of being disgusting. Food served was ok, nothing special. Breakfast very basic, nothing surprising. In general, I would not say this hotel is very good, but definitively above average…
A great hotel with good facilities, friendly and helpful staff, and a very nice room. The facilities, food and service were all excellent. I have stayed in other Van Der Valk hotels and they all have very high standards. Highly recommended.
Lovely stay for our visit to Keukenhof gardens, and for Amsterdam. Easy bus and train ride to Amsterdam. Quiet, clean, comfortable rooms, Generous varied buffet breakfasts. Dinner choice a bit limited but good. Friendly, helpful staff. Would gladly re visit.
We picked this hotel based on being close to the beach and to the Kukenhof Garden (15 km). It was perfect for both of those reasons, but also had extremely comfortable beds, nice rooms, friendly staff, top-notch dinner restaurant, and a kind of olde worlde elegance about it. It's a short walk to the beach and to the shops and restaurants of a seaside resort, but is much more manageable and human-sized than some of the mega-properties nearby. The pool is small, but the ocean is 5 minutes away.
It was clean and big, a great place to be. Good beds, everything was fine. Exept Internet-access: we tried everything to go online, but it took a lot of problems to come there for me, and my husband did unfortunately not reach wifi at all :(
