Place and grounds are very nice, but overall experience was lacking. Arrival experience felt like a basic 1 star - neglected by staff for 20 min. Roo. Was very outdated and I had to crawl around behind furniture to find a power outlet by the bed. Eventually unplugged the fridge in order to plug in my phone charger. Spa had no locking lockers, dirty towels every where, no water to drink (empty water containers). Breakfast was disappointing with no service offered and we had to find our way for everything. Not at all the service expected from such a place and at such a price. Restaurant for dinner, however, was awesome! Great food and service.
Got charged for our dog. They promised kibble. Had to ask 3 times and eventually we got bowls and a few treats. The New Year eve dinner was most disappointing. The food was poor quality all round and the hotel is mean spirited and lacking in generosity. For breakfast we had to wait 1 hour and 10 minutes for an omelette and pancakes which would have done a disservice to the budget range of a supermarket. We had to chase these items 3 times; truly embarrassing and definitely not worth the wait.
The hotel, the staff, the service was perfect. Top notch. Everything was very professional. The reason of our dissatisfaction was that the Christmas package was way overpriced for what it was. The promise was a winter wonderland, a magical Christmas experience. But we only saw a tiny plastic ice skating rink that was impossible to skate on, some fairy lights, two tiny stalls that were selling gluhwein and waffles (we got vouchers for only one drink and one waffle for each of us) and some super cheap activities like hunting some inflatable candy canes around the hotel. The food was good but they have a 5 course menu on normal days as well for half the price. No extra effort was done to fulfill the magical Christmas promise. It all seemed like a normal day at St Gerlach. We couldn’t really understand why we paid double the normal price as “Christmas Package”. We had very high expectations after paying an astronomical amount for one single night. It probably was a pricing mistake that did upset us. …
The staff is outstanding, from Senna at the Front Desk to Nikki at breakfast, and Juul at the restaurant. The Relais and Châteaux St. Gerlach is a gem in a great location. Though the check in was a bit bumpy, but as soon as Senna jumped in, everything was smooth from there. Breakfast (a great selection, no single use plastic items, cook to order items, and great service. The dinner experience top. Great wine selection and cocktails. The rooms are all differently laid out, you can be sure you find a perfect match. Beds are very comfortable. It is nice a quiet. Sustainable aspects are being integrated (multiple use bathroom amenities, local products), always room for improvement of course. I cannot recommend a stay enough.
Staying at Chateau St. Gerlach was one of the best places I have stayed. The staff was so professional and helpful. I cannot say enough great things about the Chateau. The restaurants were outstanding and I loved the grounds. The spa was so relaxing and the staff was great. I will definitely return for another stay.
Thank you very much for the brief but wonderful stay - and your great understanding for our unexpected forced shortcut (medical reasons) of our reservation. We will return as soon as possible to enjoy the perfect hospitality, service and surroundings
Awesome and romantic vacation at Sr Gerlach. Hotel has gone above and beyond to make our stay as perfect as it could be. We were really keen on the Christmas environment, the hotel really does it good! Good rooms, just the bathroom needing a renovation. Staff is very helpfully
The rooms were extremely hot. The floor was really warm, but the insistence was that their is no underfloor heating. We were not the only room complaining and the solution provided was to open the windows (then you wake up every hour from the bells). Horrible two nights sleep.
This is such a spectacular place. It is beautiful, and everyone staying at the Chateau feels very fortunate to be there. Additionally, the team on site is terrific! They are friendly, and they are super lovely. Would recommend to anyone!
I visit resorts 4 and 5 stars, very often, and this one let me down. Despite the nice grounds, the hotel didn’t meet my expectations. Main reason for my visit was the wellness and pool. Pool is cold, not pleasant at all. Early in the afternoon I went to reception to state this, as well as other items not going well, they said they will pass the message to the hotel manager. I never heard back. Hotel is very expensive, at the paid rate I would expect breakfast included, as with similar resorts of the same category. Got a 2 bedroom apartment, looked tired and old. Got a massage, they only had 30 minutes available…it lasted 22 min. Not a pleasant hotel experience.
