Detailed Reviews
This hotel is just lovely. 90 y.o. thatched roof building, situated on a small hillside in the forest, very charming. Staff makes sure you feel welcome, they are always there for questions, tips or to give recommendations on one of their great wines. Authentic and very refreshing if you're used to business hotels from the big hotel brands.
Surroundings are very well suited for outdoor activities, e.g. ATB, horse back riding or just taking a stroll. We particularly liked the 5.6 km walk near the Palthe tower.
We had a 4-course diner on night which was a highlight and breakfast is plentiful and fresh.
Our de-luxe room was spacious and charming. Depending on your inclination you could call the room authentic or in need of a (small) touch-up as it was a little bit outdated. People walking about there rooms or in the hallway was quite noticeable, but not an really an issue given that most guest turned in early during our stay. Beds where very comfortable.

As a couple we stayed here for one night and had a romantic dinner on the terrace. We choosed this hotel as it accepts dogs for a minor surcharge of € 20. We recommend it on account of its atmosphere, location and kitchen. Our room, nr. 18, however, was too warm during the night and bordered on the kitchen roof with noisy fans/industrial ventilators active intermittently during the night.

We enjoyed our stay, but the plan changed. We didn’t play golf at de Hooge Graven the next day. It was dark and it drizzled.
The rooms were comfortably big and cosy. The staff was nice. To my opinion, the dining room could be decorated with unique features, instead of main stream.
Before dinner we had a drink but they forgot the cheeses to go with it. It came after all and they compensated us with some bread and spreads, which was nice.
As vegetarians, 3 coarses were great, but the main coarse was not spectacular. And that is excactly what you expect.
They explained they weren’t very accustomed to vegan or vegetarian food yet. As we come from the Amsterdam, we are kind of spoiled I guess. But then again, this is a Bib Gourmand restaurant.

As a group of ten men we were made to feel completely at home and at ease by the very friendly and professional staff. The atmosphere of the hotel, set in the middel of the woods, is congenial and luxurious at the same time, the food and the wines are excellent, the rooms both cosy and comfortable. We played at three lovely golf courses, each less than a 30 minutes drive away, and each with its own character.

This inn was a perfect respite from the city. The staff is friendly, the rooms are comfortable, the food is Michelin Bib gourmand, and it’s easy to hike or ride bikes all around the surroundings. Contrary to the claim that you need a car, we took the train to Nijverdal and a 10 minute cab there. We never needed a car and walked 10 km every day in the park. We had our dog and it was perfect for her too.
The young woman Sommelier is very helpful and charming.

+1
Staff of hotel and restaurant are going above and beyond to make your stay memorable. The bib gourmand kitchen is great. Do not stay here without booking a lunch or dinner reservation too! Love the peace and quiet of this destination. Walking or biking right from the hotel. Some room fixtures could use a bit of tlc, but that is minor. The interior decoration of the hotel living room and restaurant is very 'warm' and classy, cosy too.

Simply excellent - staff, rooms, facilities, and food! Could not ask for a better option! The staff had my room ready and even provided laundry service that I desperately needed after hiking for a few days.
The restaurant was 5-star on every respect. Food was amazing, as well as the wine selection and the delightful staff.
Definitely recommended!

The satisfaction of the guests is of paramount importance! Staff is very friendly. Ambiance is fine. Very quietly located in the woods.
As far as we are concerned, a small fridge in the room would be nice.
De Uitkijk is located in a beautiful area. Be sure to read the information folder that is in the room. There are a number of nice tips regarding activities in the area.
