The rooms and cabins are in the midst of a slow renovation but that's not why you should come here. I'd give them 3 - 4 stars depending which you pick. The food is five star terrific - and much of it raised on premises. High end dining is offered via the tasting menus of Mount Julian. Chef Kevin McKenna... More

My boyfriend and I stayed in one of their cabins/cottages with our dog. The cabin was filthy; fridge was disgusting, old coffee grounds in the coffee maker, floor was filthy and there were cobwebs and dead bugs everywhere. For $360 per night, no one came to clean our room at all. The price included a buffet breakfast and their scrambled... More

Dear Kari T, Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. I am very sorry to hear you had a negative experience. It is certainly not our usual practice for a room to not be up to standards or without housekeeping service. With Summer coming to an end we are working as hard as we can to continue... More

Three female friends shared a two-bedroom cottage with a pullout couch in L-R; 3 sharing made the cottage cost effective [at over $400/night, a little pricey for a family, although this price includes a full hot breakfast]. We stayed Friday night to attend "The Gathering" culinary feast -- which was beyond amazing!!! Chef McKenna and his team outdid themselves; we... More

We were up there for a wedding, the food and the location were great. Everything else left a lot to be desired. Rooms weren't cleaned when they were supposed to be, toilet papers and towels were not replaced. small things like that , that left a huge impact. By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Management needs... More

We just had 4 specular nights there. While the cottage was rustic it was very comfortable and right on the lake. The place is dog friendly and, as such, we were in heaven. A golden rescue outfit was there for a bbq on Saturday with 150 dogs, with some from Istambul! Don't let this scare you if you are a... More

The location is great and the views are amazing. All the staff members we were in contact with were friendly and efficient. Yet the food and the presentation was mediocre at best. The rooms and the common areas need updating and redecorating. The only nice feature was the bed and linens. Otherwise, the whole place looked rundown.

Dear pantac, Thank you for your review. We are in the process of updating many areas of the resort, but it is indeed a rustic location. Please do contact me directly with the details of your meal. The culinary experience at Viamede is usually second to none, so I certainly would appreciate your feedback. Cheers! Ben More

Just like having your own cottage, without the work or responsibility. We stayed for three nights during the week after Labour Day, on the Golden Getaway package. We took advantage of a mid week special with mixed results. Our room was well appointed and private with its own outdoor sitting area and a lovely view. The organized activities including evening movies offered... More

This place is perfect. A resort set on beautiful Stoney Lake - with a fabulous pub ( The Boathouse - great menu) and an extraordinary dining experience at Mount Julian - tasting menu with pairings was so good, we did it twice. Everyone we met was friendly, helpful & professional. Will definitely return, maybe for one of their workshops.
