I have visited the hotel several times and I'm always feeling welcome. Tasty food served as art. Beautiful surroundings inside and outside the hotel. Great service. I will be back at Niels Bugges Hotel.

My Danish wife and I held our wedding here on Danish midsummer's eve. The team ensured that every small detail (flowers, recommending a baker for the wedding cake) was looked after without a hitch, and with minimal fuss which was fantastic as we did most of the organising from the UK. Moreover, the food menu they helped us construct was... More

I had the privilege of spending two nights here during a recent visit to Denmark. It was the highlight of the trip! The rooms were comfortable and charming - each one decorated differently and with such care. The food was outstanding. But the real highlight was the people -- everyone was friendly, helpful, accommodating. I'd love to go back and... More

The Inn is located in a magical and one of the loveliest parts of Denmark. Think Tolkien's universe of Middle-earth. I ate here with friends and the food and service was exquisite. We were served on crisp cracker tasty mushroom in a cream mustard sauce. Next we ate "Havtaske kæber /?monkfish and later fine cuts of beef prepared with wild... More

The staff was very competent, and extremely service minded. The rooms was an experience, with a bed upstairs and very old and beautiful furnitures. The food was exquisite, the best we have tasted for a long time. We highly recommend this charming place.

I was lucky to come upon this hotel while cycling the Haervejen in early May 2015. The new menu was offered. 3 'snacks' to start were all delightful. The asparagus starter was a triumph of flavours and a visual feast. The main course of veal (two pieces each cooked differently) with flower and plant garnish, and beautifully earthy danish new... Our stay at Niels Bugges Hotel was wonderful. Our room overlooked the front grounds and was decorated simply with antiques. We had a bathroom with shower attached to the room. We had an amazing dinner with very interesting combinations of flavors. The chef Peter has cooked at some of the best restaurants in the world including Noma. The waiter Henrik... More

Firstly, the inn is not in Viborg but 10 km into the forest outside Viborg and difficult to find at night. The location and building are fantastic: beautiful if unkempt grounds, modern art in the garden, light music being played all day, etc… Inside, the furniture is mostly antiques. So far so good. But the rooms are just awful. Most... More

Enchanting experience in an oak tree forest. The rooms are beautifully designed with an artistic touch. Funny sculptures and nice places to hang around in the garden. However, a bit of degeneration could be seen in the rooms and garden, but that also was mainly cosy. Service was perfect. At dinner there was fine dining - and especially the dessert... More
