My only regret is that we didn't stay here longer. I won't be able to say enough good to adequately describe! Started with great hospitality, being shown to our room and helped with luggage, explaining all there was to offer nearby. Room was very large, comfortable, and super clean. Kitchen and Kitchen Table, Living Area, and Large bathroom with heated floors and a claw foot tub.
We were given a room right on the water...most amazing view ever. I could have sat here for 3 days straight and not tired of the view. Can hike to the nearby waterfall. 1 minute walk from where the train drops you and 30 second walk to where you board the fjord boat.
If travelling as a couple, and just looking for a peaceful, serene setting, don't hesitate to spend more than 1 night. The town really doesn't offer much for food or drink...odd hours in the establishments, but maybe we were outside tourist season? (May). There is grocery store right behind the hotel, so you won't go hungry.
Again, if I went back I could easily spend a few days here taking in the beauty. Thank you for a wonderful memory!

Lovely apartment. So spacious and great location. Ability to cook in pricey Norway a bonus. Coop in Flåm had most of the usual items but was expensive (like everything else in Norway)
Only improvement would be to have a little communal food shelf for non perishable basics. We bought a lot of basics at Coop and ended up throwing them away which seems like a waste.

We stayed at the Flam Fermadinne apartment last month during our stay in Flam. This spacious apartmeht was spotless and offered all amenities. It was the perfect location with a lovely view and right near the train station. It was mere steps away from the downstairs giftshop where we found many souvenirs to bring home. And, it was very close to the lovely local brewery, Flåmsbrygga . It was a magical stay being so close to so much yet it was also a very private and quiet place to stay.

What a lovely place this is and far above our expectations. The location is great - so close to the Flam railway station. We were greeted with a very friendly welcome and the apartment had everything that we needed for our 3 night stay. Clean towels each day (although not always needed) was a kind gesture. would recommend this accommodation to anyone who wants to stay in Flam.

i was only here one night but would have happily stayed longer. Ideal location between the railway station and the fjord, over the souvenir shop (ask in the shop for key). My apartment had a lounge with balcony overlooking breathtaking mountains and a well-furnished kitchen. PS the bakery downstairs does good sandwiches!

Beautiful apartments right in center of Flam and tour pickup spots. Owner/managers were so helpful and friendly. Apartments have a refrigerator/ stove and oven. Great shower and very clean. They were very willing to hold our luggage for us after checkout while we waited for a tour. Very nice view of of mountains and waterfalls. Free Wi-Fi, digital tv.

I had read several conflicting reviews on this site regarding the Fretheim Hotel. I decided to take the advice of one contributor and ask for the new wing. When there were no available rooms on the dates we needed, I chose the Flam Ferdaminne apartments instead, just on the basis of the pictures on their website and on their availability.
I kept warning my kids not to expect much at all. Well, were we ever pleasantly surprised! The apartment was just wonderful -- new (third season, we were told), clean, airy and beautifully furnished. And the owners are friendly and helpful.
It's conveniently located, just 100 meters from the train station and the supermarket. The tourist info office is also just a few meters away. We had a great time in Flam and were sorry we hadn't arranged our trip to stay longer. We went on the Fjord Safari, bike riding and hiking in the gorgeous countryside, as well as kayaking.

Me & my wife went to Flåm Ferdaminnie for our 12th wedding anniversary for two nights (we're in our 30s).
It's in a fantastic location right on the Fjord. There's not much else in this tiny town ... just the train station & a couple of other hotels. There's a Coop opposite the place which is very convinient ... and some souvenir shops.
There are 4 apartments & the owner of the place has a souvenir shop below on the ground floor (all apartments are on the 1st floor ... no elevator).
The Good: Very very clean. The kitchen is *very* well equipped. bathroom is huge with heated flooring. Nice living room. Free laundry in the common utility room on the same floor. Convinient location.
The Bad: Owners not very friendly. You have to sign a long list of do's and dont's & pay the entire amount in advance. No internet access. around 15 steps (though i didn't count) ... so if you have luggage, you'll have to carry it upstairs yourself.
Disproportionately small bedroom. Infact it was downright ridiculous ... the size of the beds was so small that you can't roll in your sleep (you'll fall off). we're 5'4" in height ... and we could just about fit.
A couple of tips:
We stayed here for 1050Nkr a night ... we did go to see another property nearby: Flåm Marina & Apartments. it seemed like it had a better view. It costs around 1100Nkr a night though it's a 10 mins. walk to the Flåm station.
Another better option (if you have a car) would probably to stay in Aurdal as it had many more options & IMO it's more scenic.
It's around a 10 mins. drive from Flåm. It's also the starting point of the scenic route which bypasses the tunnel to Lærdal.
And do go on the scenic route ... it's very interesting.

Do not go to Norway and miss Flamm! My husband and I stayed in these apartments for 2 nights and wished we had more time. The apartments are located right on the fjord, allowing for amazing views as you lounge on the porch. The apartments are spotless and very new--ours had a fireplace, stainless steel kitchen with dishes, fridge, and dishwasher, a huge bathroom with tub, shower and vanity, and a large tv area with satellite TV and plenty of seating. Additionally, the owners gave us complimentary use of the laundry room. This is an excellent value for Norway and I can't wait to make it back there some day. Note - the owners run the gift shop on the 1st floor.

I haven't stayed at this property but had to put a date in to write a comment. Anyone who is reading this will see that I have posted many reviews and forum questions but I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that Tom is the rudest and most unhelpful person I have ever had contact with. His appalling attitude and quite obvious distain for tourists is palpable. I was planning on visiting Flam with my Mother and son next June and enquired as to pricing, the cancellation policy and requested a fjord room. All my pretty basic questions were met with complete disinterest and negativity, is it so hard to be courteous? Clearly there isn't much competition and he couldn't care less how he treats people, his arrogance is astonishing. Needless to say I will take my business elsewhere, I am utterly appalled.
