The location of this lodge is very good and makes for ideal water safaris. Plenty of birds and animals can be seen and the guides are knowledgeable. (SI tours) The wild area follows a 'strip' along each side of the river which is very small compared to the land which has now been totally deforested for the production of palm...

The Abai Jungle Lodge's staff, food and activities were all amazing. We took part in river cruises, nighttime and early morning walks on the jungle boardwalk, tree planting and a visit to Abai village: just a few of the highlights with our fantastic guide, Irix. The food was consistently outstanding, with a great selection of curries that used high quality...

The setting is the shoreline of the wide and muddy Kinabatangan River that flows through a good bit of the Borneo jungle. Access is via fast river boat from a dock in Sandakan. Part of the journey is close to shore, but nevertheless on the open Sulu Sea. Even on a hot day, the breeze created by the fast moving...

After the relative luxury of My Nature Resort, Abai Jungle Lodge was much more like what we expected. The lodges were clean and tidy and modestly equipped. We had a good ceiling fan and even the option of air-con (at extra cost), a good shower and comfortable beds. The food was perfectly acceptable and similar to what we had experienced...
