Basic accommodation, FANTASTIC wildlife, WONDERFUL staff, decent food, great value. LOVED IT. Leo, Yan and Em were the most energetic, welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly guides you could wish for. We felt so lucky to be spending time in such an animal packed location. Proboscis monkies and macaques, hornbills, owls, eagles, kingfishers, civets, crocs and so much more. Jungle and boat treks were joyous. Not for the faint hearted but every day there was something else to see. WHOLEHEARTEDLY RECOMMEND.

Just came back from 3days 2 nights at uncle Tan. We had fantastic time, our guide were Sairol and Leo and they both were amazing. Sairol was incredible at spotting animals, he could spot the tiniest frog from miles. Leo played guitar and sang on the evenings. Over all it was best time ever, we will never forget that place. The all team was amazing and made us feel like part of family. And the most important we saw so many animals but of course orang-utans were the highlight. The camp it self was basic but that’s the part of experience. Food was very delicious but basics. Over all the experience for this price is great value for money.

This was our favourite part of our trip to Borneo. We saw 75 different species, including an orangutang, proboscis monkeys and many, many more! Lan our guide was amazing and made a special effort to find as many species of animal/bird and insect. He also taught us how to spot wildlife in the dark on night treks as well as teach us what the plants of the rainforest were used for and which were safe. We saw the orangutang on our last morning safari and we waited for 2 hours in a boat nearby where we had spotted one nesting the night before and when we found it, Lan trekked us through the jungle to see her in the tree from the ground! It was truly an amazing experience and one we won’t forget! If you don’t mind basic camping on a mattress with mosquito nets in stilt huts, then definitely book this trip! The camp was in the jungle and you can hear the jungle noises all night, which really was incredible. The camp staff are fantastic and the food was delicious. I am vegetarian, and they specifically made veggie noodles and rice which were delicious! Make sure you go on every trek, safari that you can, you never know when you may see wildlife!

If you want a quite authentic "jungle experience" and don´t mind very basic accommodation, this is the right place. Have been in 2 other national parks, but saw here a lot more wildlife than in the others. Did the 3d/2n package that includes several river - and hiking tours, also night-tours. The Camp itself is very basic. You sleep in huts on stilts on mattresses on the floor (pillows and bed linen provided) with mosquitos nets, there are shared toilets and the "showers" are water barrels (you por the water over yourself with a ladle). No Wifi and electricity only limited (bring your torch.) But the environment is amazing and the guides well experienced with excellent English skills. Buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner - freshly cooked in the camp. If you are a vegetarian or vegan, no issues, they prepare extra dishes.

We had an amazing time visiting the rainforests of Borneo with uncle tan! The experience was great. We seen so many different animals, insects and plants.. of your looking for any sort of luxury then this isn’t for you, the accommodation is very basic but it makes the experience far better! It’s nice to escape every day life and social media while your surrounded by wildlife😊 our guide otto was superb and explained so much about the things we seen on our trip! He really does know his stuff. One thing I would add, it would be nice if there was binoculars/scope to use while on safari to look at birds etc. this would definitely help. Even if the company suggests to guests to bring along their own. Over all great trip and an experience we won’t forget!

A once in a lifetime experience but given the opportunity, we would come back. The lodge is what they say it is basic, but all the necessities are there. Shower, bed and most importantly mosquito net! The food is also basic but yummy, compliments to the chef. The water and beers are cool to keep you hydrated at the end of a safari or trek. Don’t forget to bring cash. We saw over 60 different species of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and birds. The highlight was spotting a mother and a baby orangutan, happily eating their breakfast just after the early morning drizzle. It makes me happy that they are obviously procreating and therefore hopefully in time, and with education on how to preserve them, their numbers will once again go up. We saw them in the dying minutes of our last jungle safari, so a little tip do not miss any of the outings. Other highlight would be the probiscus monkey family, gibbons, Bornean colugo (formerly known as flying lemur), black horn bill, blue throated bee eater, and hundreds of flying fox waking up at dusk flying over us as we cruise through the river. Many thanks to Aslan! His knowledge and amazing eyes at spotting wildlife has made it possible for us to tick this trip off our bucket list as a huge success. He was very professional and he made sure that my husband and I very well looked after. He even lent me his face mask for our jungle trek which saved my face from getting eaten by mosquitoes. On that note, my advice is to bring your sense of adventure, patience in finding wildlife, lots of loose (NO BLACK) long sleeve and long pants, and plenty of mosquito repellent!!

I had an amazing time at Uncle Tans! The accomodation is extremely basic. No hot water, no glass in windows or flyscreen, no doors, no fans, and the beds/linen have seen better days, however the wildlife viewing is incredible. I was there for 2 nights and three days and I saw over 50 mammals/birds. The highlights for me were the orangutans, gibbons, thornbills and civets. Azlan was a fantastic guide and is incredibly passionate about the wildlife. If you don’t mind roughing it, this is an incredible experience! Just don’t forget the repellent!!!

If you're looking for air conditioned luxury and a hot shower, stick to the expensive lodges. If you're looking for a genuine jungle camp, amazing guides and friendly staff, the opportunity to see all sorts of wild animals, waking up to monkeys on your roof, simple yet tasty food, amazing scenery and a unique Borneo experience... Then choose Uncle Tans. Drop your expectations, you're never guaranteed wildlife, even though we saw 60+ species. Only in the final ten minutes of our last boat safari did we get to see orangutans... And it was amazing. (hot tip: don't skip any of the activities... You'll regret it) P.s. Otto you're a legend, thanks for being our guide for three days!
