That's right... I can't find an excuse to stay away from this property! It's simply beautiful with the best beach in the islands. When reserving your room make sure you stay is a minimum of 7 nights. I like the beachfront section where all rooms come with beautiful sunset views. Oh.. best restaurant for lunch? Sit outside on the terrace...

Here for 6 days with my wife. Very nice large rooms, very big bathroom with two vanities and separate room with toilet, large soaking tube and giant shower. Shower has a sliding door that opens to its own patio! Also a nice large walk in closet/changing room. We saved a little money by staying on the golf side, so no...

The Mauna Kea hotel is located directly on the best beach on the Big island (in my opinion). Those not staying at the resort can access the beach, however space is limited and you will need to arrive by 9:00 (or earlier) to get a parking pass. Easy and constant access to this beautiful and uncrowded beach is a tremendous...

uneatable food- stone cold ribs- warm white wine-contributed to a terrible meal-some of the food was eatable ,but very mediocre crab cakes were deep fried and tasteless, rolls were dense and cold , ran out of red wine- a very bad dining experience

I liked this resort. It had a bit of a retro feel to it but the room was nice, spacious and updated and the lanai was nice with lounge chairs and a gorgeous view of that amazing Hawaiian sunset. Service was great here. The food was good at all of their restaurants, really nothing to complain about. As Marriott Platinum...

We just returned from Mauna Kea and can't wait to return. We've been coming to this beach for years and eaten in the beach side restaurant but this was our first time staying at the hotel. We travel a lot and stay at nice hotels and this is our new favorite spot. The best words to describe this hotel is...

We are a family of five, with kids ranging from 10-17. We were at the resort in late December. I'm going to start off with a general observation: if you are a traveler looking for a newer, fancy resort with marble vanities and multiple large pools with poolside servers looking to spritz you with Evian, you will probably not get...

I live on The Big Island, and there are times when I drive about 45 minutes north of Kailua-Kona to the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. The attraction? After a nice lunch on the terrace, I like to head down to the adjacent beach and enjoy some Boogie Boarding! This beach has the added attraction of between 1/4 and 1/2 mile...

This hotel is NOT outdated - its rooms have been updated, and it has a classy, integrated with the environment feel to it. The views from the hotel lobby, including the beautiful blue tile that augments the sky and sea are stunning as are the views from all the rooms that face the ocean. This is one of the best...

Probably the hotel was in its glory days in the 60s, but currently it is very outdated with small and poorly maintained rooms, old facilities, and certainly not up to the hype of a luxurious resort. Still, good views, nice location, and secluded area.
