We booked this as somewhere to break up a long journey from the south of England to the north of Scotland and were very pleased we did. Due to traffic issues at one point we thought we would be arriving well after 11:00pm so we phoned ahead and they reassured us it wouldn't be a problem. The staff we exceptionally... More

We booked a recently refurbished rooms for 6 people as a base for a planned walk. I can not fault the place at all. The room with 3 bunk beds was clean and comfy with two excellent private bathrooms with fantastic showers across the hall. The staff were friendly and accommodating and when we added a seventh person at the... More

We stayed there for one night. The pub was very welcoming and friendly, the room was bright, clean and comfortable, amazing bathroom with walk in rain shower! Creaky floorboards both in our room and next door were a bit noisy though. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was nice, breakfast was lovely. Penrith was good for a... More

Visited in order to visit my daughter. Wonderful! Lovely greeting by staff. Clean, comfortable en suite rooms which are well thought out in the planning. Food is wonderful and reasonably priced and the location convenient for Penrith and the M6/A66. Four stars only because the room is a little warm.

Stayed here for one night on the way up to Gretna Green to celebrate our 1st Wedding Anniversary!! What a fabulous place!! Lovely welcome, shown up to our room with a bottle of chilled water, told about fire escapes etc. Made welcome down at the bar where we thoroughly enjoyed the homemade chicken breast bacon and cheese burger with sides... Found this by chance: we were intending to go into Penrith but as it's the height of summer, the Gas Board has arrived and so one of the main streets was shut and the resulting gridlock in and around the town meant that the M6 southbound was jammed for two miles by traffic trying to get off at junction 40... Note: There isn't a separate Tripadvisor section for the pub / restaurant, so I've added this to the hotel review section for that reason. I'll start off with the good points: this is a combined village pub and restaurant that caters for locals and visitors; the staff were friendly; the restaurant is bright, spacious and welcoming. Now to the not-so-good:... More

Recently stayed at the Sun Inn on our journeys, both north and south, in order to break the long drives. It is in a great location, about 5 minutes off junction 41 of the M6, it had ample parking on both a Friday and Saturday nights when we stayed. The staff were very courteous and helpful , the room was... More

Had a great stay here. A newly decorated and comfortable room, with large bathroom. We had a great meal in the evening, much better than standard 'pub' food. And all of the service was great. Would highly recommend.

Thank Fiona B
