A gem of a pub. Been here a few times in the past recent one being last night with hubby and friends. Food and staff excellent but have yet to do an overnight stay so can't comment on rooms! Will definitely come here again next time we are in Cumbria!

My wife and I stopped here for lunch after a round walk from Elterwater to Skelwith Bridge and back. The pub looked inviting but is small inside, so we had to sit outside which was not a problem since we had a dog with us. The disappointment was in the quality and amount of food we were served compared to...

Just got back from a lovely 2 night mid-week break at The Britannia. We've eaten there several times, but this was our first stay. Nice comfy room with views across the valley. Both room and the separate bathroom were spotlessly clean. Super big bath with loads of hot water too. Friendly, helpful staff, The food was great: lovely evening meal...

Stayed over in room 9 - decent size with a good bathroom which is an odd shape. Great location for accessing Langdale, Ambleside and Windermere. We dropped in for a couple of beers late on and they were pretty good ! Breakfast was great - well worth checking it out.

The Britannia is a fantastic, characterful 500 year old inn set in the heart of the Lake District amongst breathtaking scenery. Located next to the small village green, which provides an overflow area for outside drinking, this is a picture postcard location. However, it's not just pretty, but it delivers a great service with fantastic food, made using local produce...

We visited twice over a weekend - the first time was just for a few drinks and it was lovely to sit at the front of the pub in the sunshine, and quite happily spent a couple of hours there and would happily do so again, given the opportunity. Our second visit was for dinner, and again we sat at...

We love the Langdale Valley and stayed at the New Dungeon Ghyll before but could'nt get in this time so booked the Britannia. The first good thing is that you can book for just one night here on a Friday in Summer whereas most places are two nights min. The Britannia Inn is in a lovely spot in a small...

We have just come back from a lovely visit. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Room 1 was small but enjoyed beautiful view over the small green and the pub garden. Shower was efficient but cosy. The bed was really comfortable. Our son had a very nice twin room on a single occupancy basis Food and drink was very good. We...

Lovely Inn in a nice location. Great choice of beers for the boys and the home cooked food was lovely. I really enjoyed the pie. Its small and quirky but the staff were friendly and polite. Would come here again when next camping up here

We have passed this inn many times and it is always full, which we took as a good sign. Last week we eventually stopped for a meal there but were sorely disappointed. The steak and mushroom pie was really tasteless and, at £14.25, we didn't feel was value for money at all. Sorry for the bad review guys but I...
