Our family stayed here 1 night in march 2023 in 2 rooms. Old run down property. No welcome fruit etc Rooms , bathrooms, hallways really worn out with musty smell. Really need to tear down the whole place and complete renovation/ refurbishment is needed of all rooms and public spaces. Than it may start resembling a 5*. Restaurant food was okay and breakfast buffet was decent. But in current state- not recommend staying here at all.

Beautiful resort with heavenly view of backwaters... Staff is always welcoming with smiling faces, special thanks to Shyam, Jomon T, Uday from coffe shop for taking care of us so well, Anand & Anu from Front desk. Food is ok, since it was a covid time so there were limited option for dining. The in house activities will keep you entertain in evening. In the evening, one could sit at their sitting area and enjoy the sunset which can't be explain in words. Over all a good experience. Thank you!

This hotel is beautiful. I felt so comfortable and there was an unpretentious sense of luxury. The late night front desk/check in staff was extremely helpful, especially Harish and one other gentleman who’s name I didn’t get (he showed us to our room). They really helped me out in a pinch and saved my trip and I’m so thankful. The food is fabulous. Rooms were well appointed and the activities like the boat ride and dance program (although I didn’t get to partake) were a very nice/thoughtful way to learn about Cochin culture/traditions. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to family and friends.

My third visit to the Taj Malabar lovely staff as ever and thank you to all of them for looking after me so well. Room well cared for but no more towel animals. The breakfasts and evening buffet very good. At Rice Boat the food was delicious but expensive and one was encouraged to go for the Taste of Kerala menu on the first visit and was not encouraged to have the mud crab which was delicious. One was also encouraged to have a starter and pudding. The 5.30pm boat cruise continues with Rashida’s charming commentary. The spa was excellent and the deep tissue massage was very good indeed. I understand that the hotel will close in mid April for a much needed refurb but I hope it won’t lose its charm. Thank you again to Mr Nixon for all his help in organising my trip

Sunil at the reception desk was very helpful. I enjoyed my stay thoroughly because of the excellent room he allotted on my request Food was good The activities were very good. The Taj Malabar complex is truly beautiful. The location is very good even though there is a little bit isolated feeling being on an somewhat “industrial “ island. The hotel is like an oasis. We enjoyed the sunset cruise allowing to see both the busy harbor and the historic buildings of Kochi fort. Together with a group of friends we also particularly liked our outdoor dinner. Excellent food. Our nonspicey preferences were respected. Right after the sunset they have a nice lamp lighting ceremony. Very enjoyable as well. At one point I forgot a backpack after an afternoon tea rushing to the boat. All my belongings with cash and some valuables were seved intact for me. Honesty and good service.

We spent five wonderful days at Taj Malabar Resort and Spa at Kochi from February 27 to March 3, 2023. Taj Malabar Spa and Resort is uniquely positioned at the northern tip of Willingdon Island with a clear and expansive view of the bay to the Arabian Sea. The property is beautiful, very well maintained , has a large infinity pool, manicured lawns and offers unique viewing of Dolphins due to its proximity to the Arabian Sea. A big thank you to Mr Sunil, the front desk manager, who is an extremely efficient , ever smiling and helpful person. He not only upgraded us to a suite on the 6th floor with the best view overlooking the bay, but also met us everyday to chart out our itinerary for the next day and made appropriate bookings for us. Thanks to his suggestion we went for a backwater boating excursion that was fabulous. We learned a lot about the area while navigating narrow backwater channels in a canoe with Peter, our very knowledgeable guide, who was a great photographer too. This excursion is a must for all first time visitors to Kochi. From our balcony on the 6th floor, we had a spectacular birds-eye view of the non-stop harbor activity which included its large fishing fleet, container ships , commercial boat traffic, coast guard and naval vessels including an aircraft carrier !! We felt like the harbormaster of one of the loveliest harbors in the world. Each day we enjoyed watching the resident dolphins swimming and feeding only 10 to 50 meters from shore. And since we were at a great height we could see them chasing/ catching fish even under the water. And ofcourse were mesmerized by the spectacular sunsets. We saw photographs of Prince Charles celebrating his birthday in this resort during his visit to Kerala some years ago. And he had stayed in the same suite as us , but on the 7th floor. That was confirmation that we were certainly staying in a first class 5 Star resort. We were very impressed with Mr. Sibi Mathews, the soft spoken and polished General Manager, who was very accessible as he regularly moved around the property greeting various guests. We saw him and talked to him every day and he gave us valuable advice regarding local excursions. Thank you Mr Sibi for all the discounts you offered us on our package! Every evening the resort offers a 45 minute boat cruise of the harbor during which you get to see the iconic fishing nets set dramatically against the setting sun. Rashida was our very pleasant and personable guide for the cruise and we enjoyed the evening cruises so much that we took them every evening during our stay. I was experiencing some stomach problems while traveling in India. Linson, the restaurant manager, and chefs Meril and Karthikeyan, went out of there way to prepare delicious non-spicy, off the menu , meals for me during our stay. The prawns and fish were particularly tasty, as good as I have eaten anywhere during my world travels. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the equally delicious dishes offered in the extensive buffet. Sarath and Abraham, our servers at Peppers (the multi cuisine restaurant), added to the pleasant experience we had each meal by being super attentive to our needs and giving us excellent service. One night we ate at Rice Boat and had a great culinary experience eating local Kerala cuisine ( made non spicy specially for me ). Ahilan, the Captain, seated us a table with a lovely view, helped us with the menu selection and was super attentive, friendly and efficient. The housekeeping staff were second to none. Anandu and Swami were very competent and responded to all our requests within minutes. Thank you both for such wonderful service and for adding so much more comfort to our stay.
