Our stay at Hip Hotel was everything we were looking for in a holiday trip to the beach.

First, the location is pretty far from the city of Tulum, but there's plenty to do within walking distance. Our main reason for visiting Tulum was to experience the beach and blue waters, so this location was perfect for us. We walked to a a different restaurant every night during our 4 night stay and never had to walk more than 10 minutes. There are also plenty of pharmacies close by where you can buy most toiletries - and beer/liquor.

Second, the property. Overall, it felt very safe. The property upkeep was great. You can tell the staff take pride in the hotel and its grounds. The sand is raked daily and the greenery is very well taken care of. The beach club restaurant is very convenient and the food is simple and delicious. The rooms are comfortable. Our room had a very effective A/C. The only issue was that the bed was pretty stiff.

Third, the beach. The beach was also cleaned and raked every morning. There were plenty of chairs available and social distancing was easy with the stationary beach huts. The direct beach access easily the highlight of the stay. Beach towels available at request near the beach. The beach also offers full service from the beach club which can easily be charged to your room.

Last, but not least, the staff. The staff was very friendly. From the front desk to the servers, everyone we interacted with was very pleasant and knowledgable. Cynthia, the manager, in particular, was VERY helpful. She was able to give us restaurant suggestions, book reservations, and suggest excursions.

Overall, we had an amazing experience. We will definitely be back.

The Hip Hotel is located right on the beach in Tulum. The rooms are lovely, spacious and pleasantly rustic. There are no phones or televisions in the rooms and internet is only available in central locations. The amenities are in refillable pottery containers and the water in refillable glass bottles.
The restaurant serves tasty Mexican cuisine.
The beach which is a two minute walk,is absolutely amazing. The hotel provides lounges, umbrellas, towels along with food and beverage service. The staff are friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this venue for anyone visiting the area.

The hotel met and exceeded expectations set from previous reviews. The rooms are incredibly close to the beach, spacious, and decorated in a rustic polynesian style. The staff was, as other reviews noted, ultra friendly and attentive. Special thanks to Abraham a host and Lili a server.

The included breakfasts were nice. (You get to select one plate from the menu.) We did not partake too much in evening festivities because we were there to explore Tulum Beach's restaurants and such, but we did have a nice casual dinner in one of the cabanas on the beach at the hotel our first night there that was delicious and memorable.

The hotel is located toward the south end of Tulum beach, which was fine for us because we had a rental car, but it's easier to take a local taxi for evening dinners to avoid parking fees and hassles. (The hotel valets helped make sure we didn't get overcharged by the taxi drivers.)

The beach in front of the hotel is one of the nicest beaches one can imagine and there are plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance of the beach and road. There are bike and scooter rentals too. The hotel I believe has it's own bikes, but we did not use them.

My only nitpicks would be the lack of refrigerators in the rooms and the extra charges for using the in-room espresso machine, but overall we had an extremely pleasant and memorable stay here and hope to return soon.

Second time I visit tulum and second time staying at the same place after so many amazing options we come back to AyJ because they go beyond for you, to make you feel confortable happy and at home. Rooms are very cleaned, sealed with a sticker before using it that tells you the date it was cleaned/sterilized. Service is like no other place, the best. Food is healthy and great. Definitely a place to stay if you are going there!. Paulina, Jesus and Gabriela are so accommodating kind and sweet. Thanks guys, big hugs.!

I first stayed at Ana y Jose back in Oct’20 mainly because of its location: beach side in the hotel zone and few minutes walk to some of the best restaurants in Tulum. Had an amazing experience and ended up staying with them again in December for 10 nights!
The rooms are great and cleaned multiple times/day, the restaurants serves some of the most delicious food and the best part is the staff. The staff is very friendly and make you feel like home. Also the concierge team in particular Paulina was very helpful with giving activity and restaurant recommendations/reservations. Highly recommended!

My wife and I stayed at the Hip Hotel for about a week on a couples trip. It’s just an incredibly well run hotel, with every detail just right.

First the obvious: the location is great, right on the beach, in the more upscale section of Tulum. The room was spacious and kept meticulously clean. It has solid AC and decent wifi in the common areas (though not in the rooms, which they say is by design to create a greater sense of disconnection). You never need to wear sandals at the hotel because every room is literally right on the sand.

But what *really* sets this hotel apart is the service. Every staff member is so respectful, accommodating, and courteous. No joke it rivals the Ritz-Carlton when it comes to guest service, which is an unexpected surprise given the reasonable price point.

The food in the restaurant is also excellent. While there are lots of great upscale restaurants nearby, we ate most of our meals at the hotel since the food was so delicious, well presented and well priced.

We’d definitely stay here again when visiting Tulum.

Amazing location right in the middle of the main Tulum strip really close to all bars and resturants which is great as traffic can be a nightmare. Great all round hotel dont be put off by the slightly dated aesthetic service, location and amenities make up for it. Our room had a full mini bar, ceiling fan great aircon, private pool and loungers large wardrobe and laundry service which is unsual for Tulum. Large very clean bathroom with shower. Staff where so friendly and always happy to help making reservations at various resturants for us. Ever place they recommend was bang on. Felt very safe with in the hotel grounds night security ensured only guests came in the evening however your allowed guests during the day. Beach bar and hotel very varied and reasonable price. Guillermo was so lovely always making us laugh and the girls on reception couldnt do enough to ensure we had a good stay.

Stayed here for over a week on vacation in Dec 2020 in a garden view room. Staff are fully masked at all times and room was very clean. Air conditioning was working great. Felt great to be able to walk a few meters from the room to the beach. Very limited wifi in the rooms - only wifi in the reception, restaurant, and beach area. Make sure to see the sunrises! Also very walkable to many of the great restaurants, day clubs, other hotels on Tulum beach.

The front desk was very helpful with booking a tour for Sian Ka’an, the nature reserve just south of the beach strip. They arranged hotel pickup so the entire day would be hassle free.

We had a continental breakfast included in our room rate which consisted of excellent coffee and freshly pressed fruit juices (choice of orange or melon) . Our servers were so friendly and took great care of us - Jesus and Arvin were a pleasure to talk to each morning. We had our breakfasts outside on the balcony and were visited by some cute little birds, one particularly one which we have named Sunny. See attached photo - Sunny sitting on the balcony of the restaurant (also note the great views from where we sat every morn)

We spent three nights in this hotel. The location is beautiful, right on the beach. So, you can feel that you are right on a white carabean beach. rooms are spacious, but no television, no fridge, very few towels, no WiFi in the bedrooms.
If you want to read the news the is only the restaurant or the reception desk with Wifi.
The food in the restaurant is not very nice and the quality of the service pretty poor, slow like hell.
We had a good time anyway because the location is beautiful and we love the ocean, but do not expect a ‘ boutique hotel’. It is just a simple hotel that pretends to be special.
We had a ‘grade view room’ that was looking onto the main road, very very noisy.
In the morning the truck with the supply of water would wake us up at 6:00.
I would not go back.

The room we had was just fine. The service from the staff was good as well. The food was nothing to brag about although Taboo, just next door has fantastic food. The drinks seemed a bit weak and the wine pours are pretty small. They do charge for everything. There are Nespresso machines in the room, but you have to pay. There is one bottled water and if you want any more they are $7 each. We had booked and paid for 5 nights and unfortunately we had to leave on the last night due to the incomming hurricane. The hotel was closing. We tried contacting them the next day to see if we could stay that night since we missed the previous night and did not get a reply for 2 days. The reply made no mention of being able to stay our last night, just an apology. We ended up having to book another hotel. I asked for a refund for that night several times and finally got a reply to email the reservations department. I did so and never got a reply. Pretty dissapointing

$50 at the hotel. They actually had a medical professional come and meet us at the beach and took test. It was east. They whats app the results to you in 3 hours. You need to get it 24 hours before your flight. Example- if your flight is at 4pm Tuesday, take test 4pm Monday

If you request a room away from the street it shouldn’t be an issue. We were near the road so we could hear some noise at night, but there are plenty of rooms away from the street. It is a beautiful hotel!
