We spent a week here for our honeymoon. Very relaxing, fab food, stunning views and helpful staff. The breakfasts are generous and great quality. Great hideaway. This part of Italy feels very authentic and this hotel is a great place to stay and soak up the sun or explore.

We spent 5 days in Umbria as part of a month long trip around Tuscany (and Umbria of course), with our two young children (3 and 6) Villa Monte Solare was the only 4-5 star resort that we could find in the area that suited our requirements. Our room (apartment) was great - it was actually two huge rooms connected...

Have just spent some very nice days at this beautiful and cosy hotel. I can confirm other reviewers' words about the staff. They are all fantastic. We were upgraded to a suite in the main building which we enjoyed. It was really rooms "with a view". We had dinner in the restaurant every night and the food is so tasteful...

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and is very clean and well maintained. Staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed for 10 nights on a half board basis as there are no restaurants nearby so if guests want to eat out it means driving to restaurants and they are a good distance away. This meant by about day 5...

The location in the Umbrian countryside is stunning; right in the middle of vineyards and olive trees. The suite was large and comfortable and we were next to the second swimming pool. The restaurant has a somewhat limited menu, but the food is very good. The sommelier in particular does an excellent job! The staff in general is professional and...

This is a great venue with fabulous views in a great part of Umbria, the green heart of Italy. I have really mixed feelings about this place as it came really highly recommended from someone i trust but our visit highlighted some shortcomings. It is a great building and our rooms were in a new block with spacious bedroom great...

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and enjoyed our time. All in all, it is a beautiful property, clean and well-maintained and the staff are hospitable and friendly. We stayed in suite 21, in a separate villa to the main building. The views are great and the pool was quiet and lovely. The WI-FI in...

We stayed here in order to have a fantastic meal at Countryhouse Montali. If you're seeking tranquility among the grape vines and olive groves, this is it. The staff went out of their way to ensure we were happy, the food was great, and all we could hear the whole time was the wind blowing in the trees. It might...

This is a beautiful estate in an idyllic location, but it is NOT a 4 star luxury hotel. It could be, or it could be a complex of luxury ‘apart hotels’ – but the owners need to make up their minds which they want it to be and make alterations accordingly. We went on the premise of it being a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On a remote hillside above Lake Trasimeno, Villa di Monte Solare nestles in gorgeous grounds punctuated by cypress trees and fountains a few miles from Perugia. An enchanting villa, that for centuries was home to an aristocratic family, it is now a delightful boutique hotel with an excellent restaurant, two swimming pools, a tennis court and a pampering spa.Rooms and suites at Villa di Monte Solare are distributed between the villa, complete with marble fireplaces, terracotta floors and antique furniture, or in one of the 350-year-old farmhouses on the estate, also beautifully furnished but with a more rustic feel. Wander around the walled Italian garden and discover the chapel. Then, head to the pool and take in the sweeping views of the Muserale Valley and the Mongiovino hills.Take a cooking class with the chef to learn authentic Italian cuisine and then try to match a wine to your dish with a wine tasting session. In between swimming, relaxing, spa treatments and tennis find some time to visit some of the nearby villages for a feel of Umbrian life. End your day with delicious Italian cuisine in Villa di Monte Solare’s restaurant. ... more   less
