We travelled as a couple for 7 nights at this beautiful island and it really is breathtaking. The water is crystal clear, so warm with an incredible variety of sealife! The island is tiny, we took a pedal boat around it which took around 20-30mins! We stayed in the overwater villas. These are spacious, very high ceilings and a huge bathroom with both a large shower, bath with oceanviews and there is even an outdoor shower.

To wake up, and walk out to these views was a complete dream! Two sunloungers outside as well as the overwater hammock meant we could lay out out under the stars, so romantic! The steps down to the ocean and coral were VERY SLIPPERY! Even with water shoes on, the bottom steps that are underwater were covered in slippery green alge and this really should be cleaned off monthly to avoid accidents. Either way, to have SO much incredible sealife right there was breathtaking! Every day, walking to and from the main restaurant we would look over the walkway and be amazed at what we saw, a huge ray, sharks, squid, we even saw a turtle at the beach whilst walking past! Lots of cute hermit crabs everywhere too....It truly is amazing.

The gift shop is so expensive. They charge at least $70 for a very basic snorkel, so I recommend bringing your own (we purchased a full face snorkel mask recently from Aldi for £20.)

Tina and her team were very welcoming, very attentive and reserved a particular table for us each night. A big thank you to our lovely waiter Biswajit (restaurant captain) who remembered our favorite choice of drink and ensured we had this without asking! Very lovely friendly staff that we cannot fault. The food was fresh, tasty, lots of fresh fish, seafood dishes, curries and fruits.

This resort is perfect for a romantic, secluded, idyllic and peaceful holiday. I wouldn't personally bring my children as I don't think it is suited to children or there is much for them to do. Also the wifi.....you need to log into it every 20mins!

Negatives:

Slippery steps from the rooms to the ocean (expected, but should and can easily be cleaned off/ maintained by staff)

The all inclusive packages are not what we are used to and are not necessarily "all inclusive" as only certain/basic drinks are included. The bar staff were courteous in trying to explain this but I think this needs to be reviewed. Also, you can only order 2 drinks at a time and can only take glass bottles to the beach which you need to bring back again, no waiters at the beach to take your orders etc.

Repetitive spa music played constantly..it would be nice to have a little more variety!

Entertainment at the hotel was only for 2 nights during our 7 night stay.

More sunloungers needed on the beach, the few that were there were either broken or didnt come with the padded covers.

The wifi.....you need to log into it every 20 mins!

Aside from this, we absolutely loved our stay and thanks to all staff for your hospitality and providing us with such a great trip!

We recently visited Coco Giri island resort, located in Baa atoll about an hour by speed boat journey of 15 min by air taxi. It’s a boutique resort in a serene location, with literally no resorts around with very minimal sea traffic. We were accommodated in a Water villa with outdoor jacuzzi, the villa is spacious with beautiful balcony with private stairs entry to pristine ocean, the house reef is amazing and filled with wide variety of fishes ( compared to many of resorts located near to airport and Malé atoll where the reefs are dead and you have to hire boat for snorkeling trip ) here you just step in to ocean from your villa you are greeted by amazing views all around, we spotted color changing octopuses and a turtle which was not afraid of humans at all ( most of ocean dwellers are not afraid of humans ) the green corals mimic tea plantation and loads of different fishes , reef Sharks and sting rays and we saw it all.
The evenings ware spent on the open net over ocean and in warm jacuzzi with glass of wine or cup of coffee, totally worth it, i can tell without a doubt these sunsets were the most beautiful we have ever seen.
The Ameera spa experience of very relaxing, worth the visit.
There is a PADI dive center, we didn’t use their service, but they guided us about the currents and best snorkeling spots.
The resort staff is amazing ,they carry on their work with out being noticed or bumped into unlike some resorts where you don’t feel the privacy because of excessive staff .
The restaurant has descent menu, food was tasty with both veg and non Veg on the menu, the staff especially Mansa are very cordial and accommodating.
Front office Amrita was always available and made all arrangements for us.

We happened to know the owner of the resort personally, he has put his heart into this project and it’s visible, he has created a wonderful resort with unique appeal.
I have visited more than 20 resorts in maldives and i have learnt that instead of branded large resorts the charm is staying in these small boutique resorts, cant wait to visit again Cocogiri . See you all soon

PROS : Boutique resort , very nice staff, economical, amazing reef, excellent views all round, big clean rooms, most amazing sunsets ever.

CONS : 1 hr speed boat drive may be an issue for travelers with sea sickness , but we enjoyed it.

PS: Choose the water villas towards sunset for amazing views and villa with jacuzzi totally worth it.
- Choose sea plane if you want to experience it ( time taken from check in to reach may be same 1 hr or more ) speed boat is fine for most.

Where do you start with a review? well I’m starting with the lady who makes this island what it is the beautiful Valentina Daniel better know to everyone as Tina. This lady is incredible she is very astute, notices everything and her only aim in life is making sure her guests are all happy, healthy and enjoying their stay on Cocogiri.
I had a personal health problem while we were there and didn’t have the medication I needed I went to Tina and before I knew it she had taken complete control and she got me what I needed within a few hours of speaking to her and she then checked up on me every few hours making sure I was ok and improving.
In all my years I have never met anyone with her dedication to the guests well-being and happiness, and there just aren’t enough words to tell her how grateful I was for taking such good care of me.
So Cocogiri is a small very friendly intimate island that I truly didn’t want to leave. Our first time in the Maldives and I have to say it delivered we totally chilled relaxed and recharged.
On arrival we were greeted by the Team and the lovely Tina we were given a seat in reception with a cool towel and a very welcome drink. Booking in is smooth and quick we had our luggage taken to our room and got settled in.
Our room was a water villa 215 and we were lucky enough to have sun on our balcony from morning till sunset it’s extremely private and rooms are cleaned every day and they have good air conditioning. There’s a mini bar very well stocked but it is chargeable and not included.
Small lovely restaurant with buffet style food and a good selection there is also a bar cafe with a good menu choice this is chargeable and not in all inclusive.
We met some lovely people and as a group we went on the Shark and Turtle trip I’m not a good swimmer and I was terrified if I’m honest but the lovely Padi diver Matt talked to me reassured me then Hussain who took our group out he was fantastic with me he never let go of my hand the whole time with the Sharks also the group of friends also encouraged me to the point where I was able to snorkel myself with the Turtles it was absolutely amazing and I am so glad that I listened to everyone and did it the experience was fantastic.
All in all this holiday delivered more than we could ever have wished for and I would definitely return.

This was our 9th trip to the Maldives all to different Islands and we thought we would give Cocogiri a try and am so happy we did, however, there are some niggles that if corrected would make this an unbelievable resort.
The Island itself is stunning and everything you could really want for the Maldives. It is small, has a big shallow turquoise lagoon and ringed by a very healthy stunning reef that is teeming with life. The staff are very good and the accommodation is modern and tasteful.
However the Island is very much a back to basics resort and lacks a lot of the luxuries you would associate with the Maldives. However, if you are happy with a very chilled out, peaceful Island and just want to relax in the sun, go snorkelling and have a quiet beer this Island is for you.
The snorkelling is fantastic and was one of the best reefs I have been on! You can easily walk out to the reef drop off through the lagoon or there is a jetty with steps that you can swim off. The coral is healthy with large amounts of both soft and hard corals and there is plentiful reef fish. There were resident turtles, Eagle rays, Octopus and sharks. A pod of dolphins even came into the reef to feed for hours and we managed to swim with them for as long as we wanted. Another evening Bioluminescent plankton washed in with the tide.
There is one buffet restaurant and food is basic with generally a chicken, beef, fish, pasta, Maldivian and Indian option plus sides, salads and deserts. However, the food is very tasty and good quality and I enjoyed every meal. At breakfast the coffee and tea was self service with pots of filter coffee and tea. This was a first for us in the Maldives and on quite a few days the coffee was pretty much just brown water it was so weak and the milk had run out.
The bar was small and perfect for a quiet drink. AI covered non-premium alcohol and soft drinks and small selection of cocktails was included halfway through the holiday.
The staff throughout the Island were all fantastic and were brilliant at their jobs.
There were, however, a few niggles. Despite being a new resort some things in the resort had an air of being tired and unmaintained. The pool umbrellas were both broken and although everytime we wanted to use them a member of the maintenance staff had to be called to put them up they weren't fixed. The sunloungers on our balcony were white plastic but had become discoloured and their mattresses were stained. There was rubbish left around the balcony area and in the sand in the outdoor bathroom. A water bowl to clean the sand off your feet and a washing line would also have been helpful.
However, none of this had any impact on our enjoyment of the holiday and I would return in a heartbeat.

This was our first trip to the Maldives and we certainly weren’t disappointed! Cocogiri is a small but beautiful island. We were greeted on the jetty by the reception staff and given a welcome drink which we thought was a really nice touch, made us feel especially welcome and set the tone for our 10 night stay. Our room was ready when we arrived so we were checked in early which was much appreciated after our long journey to get there, sometimes it’s the small things that make all the difference.

We had opted for a water villa which was extremely clean and spacious with a large bathroom that had a bath with views across the reef and sea beyond and separate shower. There was also an outside shower that could be accessed from the decking and had a door leading into the bathroom . From the decking there were steps leading straight down into the sea above the reef which made for some excellent snorkelling, the reef is alive with fish and if you’re lucky you may even see a turtle swim past as we did. As our seaplane transfer back to Male wasn’t until after 3pm we were fortunate enough to have the use of a beach villa, this too was extremely clean, well appointed with a half indoor/ half outdoor bathroom. Whichever option you choose you certainly won’t be disappointed!

In the restaurant there was something to suit everyone’s tastes and dietary requirements. Whether it be for breakfast, lunch or dinner there was a wide variety of dishes which were all made with quality produce. For breakfast as well as hot options and freshly cooked omelettes there was a wide variety of pastries, cakes and fruit. For lunch and dinner again as well as soup and the hot options there were also salads and a special dish prepared by the chefs at the cooking station, and if you still have room a wide variety of extremely tasty desserts.

There are a variety of trips and activities on offer which can be booked via the team in the dive centre. We went island hopping and got to see the stingray which I would definitely recommend.

And finally…… as beautiful as Cocogiri is, it is the staff that really make the stay extra special and show hospitality at its very best. The reception team are extremely welcoming and helpful, housekeeping keep the rooms spotless, the groundskeepers keep the island well maintained and beach raked, the dive team are happy to help and advise on the trips and activities and the bar and restaurant staff are very attentive, quickly getting to know your favourite drink and it’s always service with a smile. This is a very well managed resort with exceptional staff, thank you everyone at Cocogiri for our wonderful stay!

On arrival at the airport we couldn't find the guy who meets you. I had to walk round shouting COCOGIRI!! till he appeared in a puff of smoke.
After we found him we was away on the speed boat within 40 min. The Journey took 1hr 10 mins.
The reception from the staff with a cold towel and a drink was welcome.
We had a beach Villa 104 facing the sunrise beach which is a very breezy side of the island.
We asked to change after a couple of nights to be on the sunset beach 107 which was a lot calmer but a lot hotter, so if you like the breeze
the sunrise beach is for you, rooms 101 to 105.

The food was buffet style and only in my opinion was very repetitive and only 3 star.
The seating in the bar and reception was very uncomfortable with huge wooden chairs that weighed a ton.

All-inclusive drinks doesn't include cocktails and they were up to 18 US Dollars each. Plus the mini bar in the rooms are chargeable and quite expensive. So All-inclusive doesn't mean what it says.

The Staff are all wonderful people and do anything for you no problem. The girls on reception look after you and solve any problem you have and I mean anything.
Tina you are wonderful so is the singing receptionist.

The rooms are great with nice showers and comfortable beds. You can even get Premier league football on the TV (bonus).

Met some lovely people which is always nice.
The Plug sockets are all OK for british 3 pin so no need to take converters.

They have Canoes and Peddlos which is a great way to see the island offshore and they are free if your all inclusive. The snorkeling is superb off the beaches, you have to hire the masks and flippers at a charge so if you have your own it's worth taking.

Would I stay here again? Sure I would but there's hundreds of others to try.

Thank you for a lovely stay it was amazing.

This resort was rated 4.8 based on which I decided to go ahead with it but today after experiencing their hospitality I think even 4.8 is underrated.. it deserves a 5/5 for the holiday experience they provide
Big shoutout to Valentine (Tina), the way she personally looks at every guest's comfort and requirement is commendable. We were travelling with our 11month old baby and the way she helped us manage him was completely unexpected. She went above and beyond to ensure our kid had proper meals ( specially made for him), she even offered to take care of him if we wanted to do scuba and in fact we did that. She was so loving towards our baby that we could trust her to keep him safe and happy while we got a break. She is always around to help with baby so we could have lunch. While she held him , enjoy dj night, etc, etc, etc... All 5 stars because of her hospitality.
The other big callout is the coral and fishes around this property. It is just out of this world. The water is sparkling clear and coral is visible even from the rooms. I have phobia of deep waters but the staff ( Tina) encouraged me to try snorkelling and the driver (Shami) made me extremely comfortable with the experience. The snorkelling experience will stay with me forever. I overcame my fear to the extent that i even tried scuba the next day and had an amazing experience. Can't express in words how amazing it felt.
Dj night was also super fun. It was nice to meet people of multiple ethinicities. The pool is made really well and it's just beside the restaurant and bar. The resort is a small one and hence there isn't much walking from room to the restaurant which is a big plus point, else it can get very tiring. Rooms are clean and the interiors are neat and pretty. Beach rooms are too cute with a swing outside and doors opening directly to the ocean. The water villa with Jacuzzi was an amazing experience specially because you can see coral and fishes around the villa as well . Food was good, new variety in every meal and a good mix of veg-nonveg, Indian and western cuisines. The staff at restaurant are also very welcoming, want to call out Sanjay here who would greet us with such a warm smile and arrange a high chair for the baby so lovingly every time we came for a meal.
The only recommendation is that the resort is 1hr away from airport and while the ride is quite comfortable, one just needs to plan their flight timings well. My suggestion would be to get the earliest flight during arrival and an evening flight during departure. However even if it doesn't workout, hotel makes all possible arrangements to ensure your comfort like packing meals for you etc. Their personnel are available at airport during arrival and departure to guide you for everything. The entire staff is super helpful.

This is our first time in the Maldives and we have to say it was the best holiday we've ever experienced. The staff cannot do enough for you. They are so friendly and kind and helpful. The Island is idyllic. We stayed in room 101 which is a beach Villa. The sand is pure white and the sea is just as clear as you could ever imagine. The coral reef is fantastic for snorkeling. I would advise that you bring your own snorkeling gear including fins as hiring costs mounts up. Also bring reef/swim shoes as it can be a little sore on the feet. We also stayed a night in the water Villa. Which was in its self heaven. The food is amazing, Never had a bad meal, plenty of variety, all freshly cooked. If you go on a fishing trip, they even cook your catch. The rooms are cleaned everyday with fresh towels, bath and swim towels. . The trips and Scuba diving are fab. We recommend going on the Shark and Turtle snorkeling trip. Where you get to swim with the sharkes ( who don't bite)
The room minibar is expensive so avoid using it.
Valentina ( Tina) is the resort manager who's sole goal is to make your stay perfect.....she succeeded in every sense of the word. Special thanks to our waiter, Bis, who couldn't do enough for us.
Thank you Cocogiri, we will be back.

Having read the reviews, looked at the photos and researched everything we could, our expectations were high........Pretty soon after arrival we knew our expectations were going to be exceeded!

Getting there: Male airport is an "experience". Clearly the still being built new terminal is much needed. However step outside and within 10 meters you're at the quay side and being loaded onto your speed boat transfer. The 1 hour journey will have you both exhilarated and mesmerised as you wonder how they find their way.

Arrival: The resort manager Valantina and her team will meet you on the jetty, escort you to reception and offer a wet towel and refreshing drink whilst they transfer your luggage.

The first thing you'll notice is that the floors are all covered in sand. No posh tiles, just totally natural sand. Kick off the shoes, bury your feet in the sand and relax. This sets the scene for your stay. It's not a "dress code" sort of place, more a dress down and relax vibe.

Everywhere is spotlessly clean.

The rooms: I have no idea how they do it but each room (we had an over water villa) has full air con, powerful showers with abundant hot water, internet access and a telly. Quite why you'd be watching telly however I don't know.

The restaurant: So much choice it's going to be a "put the weight on" type of holiday. Up to 16 dishes to choose from for breakfast, lunch or dinner, across a myriad of cuisines. Fish features heavily as does the "cooking station" which does fantastic pasts, noodles etc.

The staff: there is only one word - BRILLIANT! Totally engaging, they know and use your name, know what your preferred drinks are and absolutely go the extra mile.

The stars of the show: Well it's the fish, sharks, coral and turtles..... Get your snorkel and mask on and get into the ocean and prepare to be amazed. From the over water villas you climb down your own steps directly into paradise.

Whatever your thoughts, whatever your expectations, Valantina and her team will give you an experience to remember in a small exquisite resort that delivers on every level.

To say a holiday has been absolutely perfect in every way is really not an exaggeration. We travelled as a family of four and what made our stay so special was without a doubt the exemplary service and genuine care we received due to our son having a severe peanut allergy.
The restaurant manager Bizwajit and the chef Bido went above and beyond to ensure the buffet and the kitchen were totally nut free for the duration of our stay not to mention he was treated to specially prepared delicious dishes just for him ! The buffet was amazing and varied and offered lots of choice for vegetarians too.
Stunning and very peaceful beaches to laze on but also loads of water sports to enjoy - incredible snorkelling on the house reef and the shark snorkelling is a must - our guide Isha was just fantastic both dealing with the sharks and helping dad not drown when the jet ski flipped over !! Brilliant fun!
Thank you too to the lovely ladies on reception - Simran and Amrita for their consistently excellent service and kindness. Cocogiri has created our family with very special memories to last a lifetime. And we will absolutely be back ! Thank you x

Not sure if you can buy cigarettes on the island - not a smoker - but I do know that on every island we've been to they are very expensive.

There are no face masks available free on the island. You can rent a standard face mask from the dive school - or better still, why not get a mask and bring it with you. (They are light and take very little space in your luggage!)
