This little town gave us such a fantastic memory. the hotel is quaint and very old. but the owners and manager Andy made it such a special stay. we got to meet Mischief the dog who greets every one in the pub and loves to give affection to any one willing. The owner are working on the hotel, even though...

Nice atmosphere in bar sharing with friendly owners and locals. The wood fire made it nice and warm. Load shedding dit not affect the atmosphere. Diningroom very neat. Although the hotel is a 102 yr old it is well looked after. Bedrooms not modern but clean and comfortable.

Thank you for your lovely review, we are always glad to hear that guests enjoyed their visit. The hotel celebrated it's 110th birthday on the 12 June 2015 so she is a bit of an "old lady".

Beautiful area close to Golden Gate and Clarens. It is a step back in time with the owners trying very hard to procure period furniture and accessories for the Kestell hotel that is suitable for the 106 year old lady! Taking a walk around the hotel is in itself a wonderful experience. The new owners have only had this hotel...

It's rare to find a real pub in South Africa - one with a door that's open to the street and where friendly locals walk in and out for a drink and a chat. Andy the barman and manager is an excellent host and the beer is cheap and cold. The food was only OK, but that's because on the...

We decided to break our journey from Bloemfontein back to KZN, by spending the night in Kestell. And what a good idea that proved to be! We ended up being the only guests at the hotel that night but that didn't stop hotel manager Andy from making us feel very welcome : there wasn't a hint of being bothered by...

We spent the night at this hotel on Sunday, Real value for money, fantastically comfortable beds, awesome hospitality and a great vibe in the bar. In the morning we had a delicious buffet breakfast with more than enough for each of us.

“Remember to take something warm as it can be chilly in the evenings. All the rooms have their own special character. Maybe you will be lucky enough to get a personal tour and choose your own depending on the vacancies on offer!”

“Choose a room with ensuite - it doesn't cost that much more. Noise won't be a problem because the rooms are far away from the bar, and Kestell is a very quiet town.”
