Dont let first impressions count!! We arrived via pushbikes having cycled across from York and having tackled a couple of steep hills to get there. We had booked in to stay Friday and Sunday nights and was therefore a little disheartened to find I couldn't even locate the door for reception! Added to it was what, at first appearance as...

Our stay was very comfortable, and they made us extremely welcome. The rooms were lovely, breakfast very nice. Hosts are excellent and all their dogs were brilliant! We will definitely return should we visit that part of the country again.

This really is the place I love to go to in Yorkshire. You just feel as though you were at home. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. They are so friendly, kind and inviting. Great meals. What more can I say. I love it.

We stayed here after a funeral. They provided a lovely buffet for the wake and although the hotel is "dog friendly" their dogs are not obtrusive at all. I left behind a cushion and they were kind enough to post it on to me. Very comfy beds too in fact, perfect.

We booked an hour before we turned up! Gary & Kathie made us feel very welcome. The establishment is very pet friendly & our two Border Collies were allowed in the bar and able to sit with us while we ate dinner. The surrounding area is great for dog walking on the Wolds. The dinner and breakfast were perfect! As...

Spent just one night at the Old Mill and couldn't fault it whatsoever. The owners are friendly, helpful and go out of their way to accommodate you. The rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Highly recommended.

We spent the weekend at the Old Mill Hotel for our parents 40th wedding anniversary as an extended family. The group consisted of a 22 month old all the way to virtually retirement age, all of which were well catered for. We found the hotel to be extremely clean and well presented through-out. With lovely touches such as reading books...

We had a family weekend here over the bank holiday. Cannot fault the place- cleanliness, service, character and food. It was all there. A collection of books on the window sills for borrowing, if you are in need for a read. I cannot remember seeing lifts. Our rooms were on the first floor, so no probs. The area is calm...

We'll run establishment and good breakfast,Can't decide if it's a B&B or a Hotel. Certainly hotel prices for the room we had, Yet a standardB&B room for the facilities, When booking we asked for a double bedded room , we were told this was a superior double, yet when checking the size of the room was no different to the...

Gary N, Owner at The Old Mill Hotel & Restaurant, responded to this review

I just wish to clarify some points raised in this review. The price differential between "large double/twin room" and standard double reflects both the slightly increased floor space and also the shower and bath in the en suite as opposed to just a walk in shower in the standard room. All the beds are queen size doubles but are zip...
