We loved our stay in the middle of nature. Don't expect a 5 star hotel. The place is more a tiny eco resort, clean and comfortable. Conrado is a great host, very helpful and has lots of experience in life... it was great to listen to his stories! He also took us on a tour in the mountains with incredible scenery and a small waterfall where we could dip in the water. Just beautiful and highly recommended for people that enjoy nature and simplicity.

I spent 7 days ,at Casa Conrado in between some short trips and a 2 day Pico Duarte mountain tour.
The property is beautifully situated right in front of a nice river , surrounded by mountains with small rivers coming down , nice natural swimming pools give you a great opportunity to cool off as you please.
The surroundings are nice and quiet away from city and traffic noise .
The place has 2 bedrooms, bathroom, warm water gazebo with hammock for you to relax .
The owners are great hosts and plenty of fresh food from breakfast ,lunch to dinner will be prepared and provided for you as per your request .
I really enjoyed my stay , and I can say I haven't relaxed and distressed this good in a long time .
Book in and enjoy your stay........

We explored the DR from Punta Cana to Pedernalis and decided to take a look halfway in the mountains. You wouldn't expect a perfect place like "Casa Conrado" in the small village of Las Avispas. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The ventilator was cool enough in this mountain climate. Conrads wife surprised us every day with her menu choice. The river Nizao displays a wonderfull collection of polished volcanic stones and for the botanists it is also an El Dorado. Ancient artifacs from Taino have been found in this region. The locals are very friendly and if you speak some spanish they are allways in for a chat. Great place to hike (or just relax) if you are an "eco-tourist" and want to be far away from the all-inclusives!

Casa Conrado is located in a very small pueblo (Las Avispas) which is an authentic place to stay, away from the tourists on the coast. The river Nizao runs past the back of the property and is good for a cool dip on a hot day. There are lovely views of the river and mountains from the relaxing patio on the property.

Ocoa province is in the heartland of the D.R and is a lovely area to drive through. Since it's in the middle, Casa Conrado is well situated for a stop if you're touring the country.

And yes, Migelina's food is amazing!

after 1 week at the beach we liked to hike in the mountains. through some friend we found this guest house.
we were feeling home, found everything to be active, a nice climate, not to hot, beautiful hills to climbe, rivers to swim.
the food was good, to much, but very good.
miguelina and conrad were helpful in everything and made our days wonderful.

I arrived to Casa Conrado almost by chance on my way to the Central Mountain Range of the Dominican Republic and after more than a week I found it hard to leave.
The place is secluded and quiet but not hard to get to from Santo Domingo, very clean and with excellent local cuisine thanks to Miguelina and the rest of the staff. After spending every day trekking, hiking, kayaking or mountainbiking (the tours are not expensive at all specially when compared with the rest of the country and profits go to a local fundation which provides much needed environmental education in the área making it of the cleanest places i've seen here) the best you can do is go for a refreshing swim in the river, have some delicious local food and sleep like a baby!
I was also able to communicate and interact with the local tour guides, have a beer or two at the nearby colmado (bar) and play with some of the little kids around the small town of Las Avispas.

Small place in contact with nature, near Nizao river and sourrounded with the most beautiful mountains, the ambient is untrue, the guest is one of the best and gives special attention to details. Excellent ambient, great house food, all you can dream.
