Of course the beach was a disaster! So much effort put into clearing it but it wasn't happening this year. The staff seemed to be short handed but always smiling and accommodating. Valentin and Janet kept in touch with us regularly, making sure we had what we needed. Alma, seemed to fill many positions, always with a smile and a pleasant word. Also saw butlers filling in for shortages at the bars/restaurants as needed. How fun, Spanish lessons with Gio was really fun, Amigos nuevos.

I don’t even know where to start. We made the best of our vacation and had a good time with our group. We laughed and laughed…laughing is all we could do at this disaster of a resort. As we got out of our transfer we were treated with the aroma of rotting eggs. Turns out it was rotting seaweed. It was so powerful that my son was gagging and almost throwing up. While I know this is not the resorts fault, I feel like there should be some sort of disclaimer that the beach is unusable and basically non existent at this point. Azul BEACH resort after all. The seaweed smell did get better throughout the week. I think we just got used to it. When we arrived our friends were placed on a different side of the resort. We had requested twice that they were close to us. This was frustrating after traveling 10 hours with young children. They finally got that sorted out. We then got to our room and our key didn’t work. We then went to dinner at Spoon (Indian night). There was literally nothing available that kids would eat except pizza (they ate a lot of pizza and marshmallows last week 🤦🏼‍♀️). Back to the room we went at 10pm to a maintenance man fixing a light in our room hanging out of the ceiling. All we wanted was sleep at this point. It rained the next few days which obviously isn’t the resorts fault, but there was literally nothing set up for people to do. I’ve been to other resorts when this has happened and they have set up activities for guests to pass the time….nothing here. We ended up just swimming in the rain 🤷🏼‍♀️ Restaurants…ugh this was annoying. The spoon is literally the worst buffet I’ve been to at any resort in Mexico. The choice is subpar and again nothing really for kids to eat all. Our kids don’t love pizza…I’m pretty sure the lived on marshmallows and the snacks we brought from home. Besides the poor choice the food was bland and uninviting and there are flies everywhere. Trying to get a reservation around here is like pulling teeth. We attempted to make reservations the day we arrived (they have VERY limited restaurants open at a time).Granted our group of 12 was larger but all they could give us was a 9pm for the last 3 nights. We offered to split up but they still could NOT give us a reservation. On 2 nights of our stay the Spoon buffet was closed and when I went to complain I was told my only choice for dinner tonight was room service. Unacceptable!!!! The young male concierge at the front desk was super condescending and almost smirking. He tried to claim but I had not traveled during post covid times and this is just how it is. Excuse you! I’ve traveled pre, post and during covid. 2 of which were Karisma resorts! Never had service or an experience like this. Also, let’s talk room service. Sometimes it comes, sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes you only get half of what you ordered. There is literally nowhere to just get a snack here. The tiles at the pool are falling off. My son got a nasty cut on day one from it so beware. There are leaks everywhere. At some point or another everything was broken. Our door never worked well and on day 2 the handle came completely off 😂😂 You can tell the bones of this resort are beautiful but it’s falling apart. There is literally hardly anyone working. Trying to track down a drink is almost impossible. Alright for the good. Adela our concierge did her absolute best for us with what she was given. She was very apologetic at the situation and you could tell she was dealing with multiple guests in the same situation. She set up a girls day at the champagne party which was really fun. The service at the party was really good also. Enrique was fab! The day we went to get our covid test no one was there. We waited 50 minutes before anyone showed up for our 9am appointment. The line was forever long and I felt bad for the people at the back. Usually the testing at the resorts has been so streamline and efficient. Also there was a leak in the testing room but everyone just stared at it and told us to stay to the right instead of cleaning it up 🤦🏼‍♀️🙄 No actual staff form the resort was present so they had no idea what was going on until people started calling to complain. All in all we made the best of it and had a good time. We ended up just laughing about the mishaps and going with the flow. The kids had a great time. This is just not what you expect from reputable brand with a supposed 4 diamond status. If you have stayed at other resorts in Mexico beware of this one.

My family and I decided to go to Cancun Mexico to take a little break from the everyday life and to celebrate my parents 24th anniversary of being married and my mom's 50th birthday. The food was great, the rooms are beautiful and everybody has a great time with Jorge and the entertainment guys when they make people play pool volleyball, water polo, water aerobics, table games at the lobby, etc. Jorge knows really well how to get people to play and make it fun for everybody. I had a great time at Azul Beach Resort Rivera Cancun. I definitely recommend it. I'm pretty sure anyone will regret going. Blessings.

Awful experience. Completely understaffed. Don’t be fooled by ‘gourmet exclusive. The low quality buffet food food is as rotten to taste as you might imagine the putrid seaweed that envelops the entire place in the sort of smell you imagine might be replicated in the sewers of a large city might be if you could prevent yourself wrenching for long enough to put it anywhere near your mouth. They had clearly given up trying to make any effort on the beach. The pool was dirty,‘cigarette and half empty drinks laying out in piles from the night before not cleared up. We were in Cancuun for 4 nights and left after 1 after experiencing barely existent service, realising half of what was promoted wasn’t available, including restraint ants and ammeneties and the staff treated you with disinterest (with one exception as there was one good concierge we met who helped us work out how to transfer to a new hotel). I could list a dozen other things on top of the black mold in the bedroom, the 2 inches of water on sheet stone tiles that flooded into our that had me flying head over heels before watching both our children do the same. The lack of towels, caused in part by the r need to use what we did have to try and keep the water confined to one third of the room. Never managed to deliver bags to our room, after waiting 3 hours we went down to receipt in, found the storage room ourselves and picked out own bag up. Not fun after travelling with a 1 year old abs no spare clothes etc. Management are disinterested and avoided interaction entirely. There was no effort at service recovery, not even an attempt - they know it’s bad. Whoever owns this place has given up and the staff know it and act like it. They tried to get me to sign something to say I agreed it wasn’t because of the resort that I took my family out of there as soon as I possibly could, paying $2000 for 3 nights in a new hotel whilst the Azul try to hold on to money taken for a service not as advertised. This clearly happens quite regularly. Indeed we met one group on their way out too after just night 1. I wouldn’t say it was the worst day ever but the family we met were adamant it was ‘the worst day of our lives’ [ when we arrived]! Couple of pics added off the ‘clean’ tub found on our arrival. This was supposedly an $800 upgrade room - so one of the ‘best’ they have..

I had the best time at Azul. I spent roughly 40 days at the resort and it was wonderful. Lucia, Blanca, Miguel and Dorian took very good care of me daily by the pool. What a wonderful trip. I can’t wait to return
