My husband and I camped at campsite 54 for a night. When we got there we were able to buy firewood and had a nice size campground. We were right by the Big Sur river. Hotels were very expensive in Big Sure but camping was such a great and economical way to stay in the area. Fernwood was very reasonable....

First, let's keep it in perspective. Big Sur is for camping, hiking, and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. You're not going to find a Hilton or Holiday Inn. If you need all that, just stay in Carmel By The Sea and do a day trip. Fernwood Resort is mainly a campground for small RV's and tents. We stayed...

My sister, best friend and I decided to go to Big Sur for a night on a whim since we all had a week off within the same time frame. We called Fernwood to see what was available and the woman on the phone said #53 is the best spot in the house for $60/night. It definitely was! We were...

We stopped at the Fernwood last week on our way to Carmel after a day of driving. The roads were getting very dark, and for a first time drive in the mountains of PCH 1, it was a well received find. The staff was friendly, the food better than expected, great pizza, and drinks, and a comfortable bed. I almost...

Stayed in the motel area. Good price for the area. Room was clean and had a cell service and wifi which is hard to find in big sur. Staff are friendly and helpful with helping plan things to do in area.

Driving up Highway 1 on the California Coast, we stopped in Big Sur for Lunch. The food was very good, but also very pricy. There is also Outdoor dining here in the back, looking out on the Big Sur landscape.

A pretty large camping area with bathroom/showers, and a laundry room. The area is quiet, near the river. They also have cabins available. The pub is a great addiction too, in case you get tired of the woods. The price is about $60 per night per spot. I went here mid March and they had a lot of spots available.

Amazing camp site right on the river. The setting was perfect with Redwood trees all around. We at at the restaurant on site which was good but service was slow. Bathrooms were clean. Highly recommend reservations. It appeared to be full most of the week. Had amazing trails on both sides of the river

The resort is a lovely setting. We were driving through on our way to Carmel and stopped for lunch, so glad we did! We sat outside, very peaceful and scenic. The four of us shared a great bottle of wine and the food was delicious. The outside patio is in the back so no traffic noise, just trees, birds, and...

Fernwood is spectacular on so many levels, the scenic beauty of a resort nestled along the Big Sur River, with food and accommodations which exceeded my expectations. Such a treat for the senses, I'll be back!
