My partner and I booked two nights here on our drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Check in was simple and friendly. We booked Cabin 14 and loved it! It has a kitchen which meant we were able cook our own dinner. They don't supply much in the way of utensils (peelers, mashers etc) but we were able to...

On first approach, we were a bit disappointed -- the cabins sit right of Hwy 1 in Big Sur. But we warmed up (literally -- there was a wood-burning stove in our little cabin, with complimentary wood beside it) to the place. Cabin #4 sits right on the creek and is quiet and comfortable. It is VERY basic, so you...

Ripplewood Resort is one of those places you will remember forever when you think back about past vacations. The cabins are lovely situated in the middle of the Big Sur forest amongst giant trees. I loved the rustic feel of the whole place. The river that runs behind the cabins also adds to the magic. I stayed in Cabin 5...

I cancelled due to the ongoing concerns of fire in Big Sur area. But they still charged me the cancellation fee. It not about the amount charged but the basic customer service. I got a warning email from the resort itself I expected full refund.

These little places are rustic and don't have any frills but that's what makes them great. We stayed in one cabin and our kids in another. I would suggest buying groceries and filling up on gas before you arrive. There is a little store but it is very pricey. (A little box of cereal was $8). The landscaping and plants...

No "bistro" pretense here. Mexican leaning menu with abundant portions and beautifully presented. There's outside seating and great service. I had a house salad (huge and fresh) with chicken for $11. My wife had a vegetarian sandwich with fries and she loved it. A nice break from snotty places with cute food.

Loved this place after LA and santa Barbara a perfect hide out to get some rest. The cabin was small but perfect. Spent one night there and it felt like 10. You have you're own fire place. We had a perfect lookout at the river. Falling a sleep with live streaming water in the back ground is dreamy.

I spent one night here in a cabin right on the Big Sur river among redwoods and it was excellent. The cabin was spacious and well-equipped and the staff very helpful. The attached cafe is also very good for breakfast and has a patio. Highly recommended.

If you have kids, I recommend staying in one of the lower cabins off the river. My two, ages 4 and 6, played in the stream/river for an hour and had a blast. If you do, go buy a $10 innertube from Wal-Mart/Target, as the water is only a foot or two deep, and they will enjoy riding on it....

Beautiful area and a step back in time. No frills here at this resort, but a comfortable cabin with all the necessities for an overnight stay. Affordable compared to other places in the area. Very thin walls in the duplex cabins, but we were warned before we booked. No cell reception, no wifi, and no TV so like who you...
